Looks more exciting than Tenet and it doesn't look better than the previous one which was daunting

Which means Dune will be pushed to 2021.

They are still keeping the 18 Dec 2020 release for Dune. This is insane, what the hell is wrong with them???
WB putting two big movies in two consecutive weeks in a pre-COVID19 world would be already batshit crazy, but doing it now is certainly wanting financial suicide.
I hope they come to their senses and delay Dune to 2021.

Dune probably moves to the end of February. It will still be eligible at the Oscars.

It would be funny if it went to HBO Max considering how adamant Patty has been that it will never happen.

It would be funny if it went to HBO Max considering how adamant Patty has been that it will never happen. It's not as if Jenkins is Kevin Feige. She has not got enough juice/power with Warner Brothers to make any declarations on what they will or won't do with their movies that are in stasis. Fiege on the other hand has a lot of decision making power at Disney in regards to their Marvel properties, so if he were to say one of their completed films would not debut on Disney Plus, I 'd be inclined to take him more seriously. I can understand Jenkins disappointment if a tentpole movie she made for the big screen goes straight to HBO Max, but these are the times we live in. A tentpole movie's impact on streaming can be blunted. I feel like Mulan would have made a much bigger impact had it been able to originally release in cinemas (before the pandemic). It just seemed to come and go on streaming.

Oof! A real blow for Patty Jenkins. I feel like she had real ambitions to match Captain Marvel in the billion dollar box office club with the sequel. Coronavirus has truly fucked up a lot of well laid plans. The fact that Black Widow will probably be able to hold out releasing till cinemas are fully up and running again is probably a gutpunch as well, considering the momentum/potential Wonder Woman had based on the first movie to stake it's claim as the biggest female cinematic superhero property.

So I think Nolan had a lot of say in proceedings.

I guess they couldn’t find room in Summer 2021 to release WW 84? How many blockbuster movies from 2020 have been pushed back to Summer 2021? Is it that crowded. Feel bad for Jenkins though.

I think they could have found room and held out if they really wanted to. I get the feeling WW84 was basically sacrificed to bring in subscribers for HBO Max, which Warner Brothers are going to be heavily reliant on going forward.

Yeah, this feels like a marketing campaign for HBO Max more than anything.

Well damn, all bets are off now with "Soul" and "WW84" coming out on streamers. Let "Tenet" be the historic last theatrical blockbuster and release all the others online too!
