A bit late to the party, but... how can Ridley Scott be so low? Science-fiction wouldn't be the same without him.
Chaplin also deserves to be a few spots higher.

One of those 4 first place ballots would be mine.
He has I think 7 masterpieces or at least near masterpieces which is as much as anyone, a long list of feminist films, he introduced psychology to English language genre films, he is one of the few directors who made films of such diversity that suggested he knew much about life - not just films. He can film two people talking to each other and turn into eerie tension and drama - a master of atmosphere
Director of my fave film as well......wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too low

De Palma and Mann are criminally low! Fuck... Literally just finished watching Mission to Mars. Made me cry tbh. "Mission to Mars" is so damn good. The negativity surrounding it will never cease to bewilder me.

I would have put Leone higher on my list if I were more passionate about his non-Dollar trilogy films. I think both his Once Upon a Time... films are somewhat overrated.

So a few words: That quote from Godard is precisely why I hate the motherfucker. Cronenberg!!!!! King Miyazaki broke the top 25, so I'm happy. Leone!!!!! Edit: ALTMAN!!!! That quote is glorious.

I had Altman in my top 5. There's not 5 Americans better than him to me - he's the quintessential American director......that's a great photo and quote

I love Citizen Kane, but I have too little experience with the man to tell if this is worthy or not. CK is a masterwork, though.

Welles should be in the top ten (he was #7 on my list). I've been exploring his filmography recently. Absolute genius, and one of the greatest and most influential directors ever.

That his other works remain underseen must be the reason he isn't higher. People really should track down Chimes at Midnight, Othello, The Trial and F for Fake.

Happy that Peter Weir made the list (among others). Also nice to see Cuaron and Renoir make it. Nice to see Michael Mann quite high and also David Lean.
Good to see Godard, Haneke and Tarantino not getting higher.
Yeah for Lumet going that high!!
