Honestly, depends on what wins Original Screenplay at this rate. But I think Shape's PGA/DGA combo makes it the one to beat, but Three Billboards still has an edge due to the actorly representation within the Academy and the guaranteed two wins it's getting in above-the-line categories. If McDonagh wins Screenplay, it still can win. But if Peele or Gerwig win, it's probably the death knell for Billboards.

I'm inclining towards The Shape of Water. I hope it gets BP and Nolan gets BD, that'd be awesome.

Probably The Shape of Water, but I still think Lady Bird will be the spoiler.

The Shape of Water is the obvious choice right now. It hit everything it needed. No Get Out or Lady Bird in Editing. No Three Billboards for Director.

The Form of H2O, but Three Billboards wins BP if it gets Original Screenplay

Shape of Water. I don't see Billboards getting that Argo style sympathy being as decisive as it is (also the studio wouldn't push that since they also have Shape) and Shape of Water is pretty much backlash proof (female lead, minority director, gay and black main characters) so I don't think it will get La La Landed
This race is by no means over and I still think the actors could possibly carry Billboards. I also think if Get Out and Lady Bird really pushed their narratives they might have a shot. There is a lot of time left.
I also don't think Dunkirk is an impossible winner for both DGA and Bafta so maybe they could make a race of it.

Still trying to process the fact that Three Billboards is going to lose to a lightweight bestiality fairy tale.

Find some dirt on Guillermo so Dunkirk can take it.

You sound very non-partisan To be fair, pacinoyes was counting on Three Billboards to get Best Visual Effects . . . Just kidding, pacinoyes. You know I love ya. And hey, seven nods for Billboards ain't too shabby.

Unless Fox Searchlight goes insane and try to make an Argo-esque come-back, its chances are pretty slim I guess after the BD snub. It indeed got seven nods which is huge, but that snub was a big blow. I think The Shape of Water might win, or it could be BP/BD split, with Lady Bird or Phantom Thread winning. The MeToo movement could push Lady Bird, and the surprising strenght of Paul Thomas Anderson could be a sign.
