Ugh, step up from previous director but am not particularly enthusiastic.

Meh safe choice, but I can take it. Chris Terrio though

I thought they would go with him. Seems a safe choice at this point.

Good. Very good. Tho I liked the idea that all the sequels get their own directors.

Abrams is fine safe choice. Considering they need a new director fast, it makes sense they'd go to J.J. to finish off the trilogy too. Maybe he'll repeat ROTJ, but I can't complain

I didn't love The Force Awakens, but Abrams is still a reliable pair of hands and a better choice than Trevorrow.

Hated The Force Awakens so I'll probably pass on this shit. Jar Jar Abrams isn't an inspiring choice by any means. All he does (it seems like) is reboots shit. Can't really respect that.

Eh, I can live with this. But JJ is one of the safest, most uninspired choice Kennedy could make. I wish they would've gone with an inspired choice like Rian Johnson, but The Force Awakens made so much money, I can see why Kennedy chose Abrams again.

I totally called this. I liked his direction of TFA but hopefully he's a bit more inventive with the script this time.

Good, I like them coming out at Christmastime even if the first two new ones weren't that good. Space movies just go well in the winter, moreso than summer.

Way better choice than Trevorrow. Totally down with this.

I really wanted Brad Bird to direct this one, but I'm okay with Abrams returning.

This is so boring. Like, I liked J.J. Abrams' Star Trek films, but considering he'd clearly been gearing up his whole life to make a Star Wars film, his was so bland and borrowed far too much from the first film.
I get that he's a safe choice and what not, but there are other directors who are equally safe choices and at least have more visual flare to them. Just as Piku said, Brad Bird would've been excellent especially since a) his track record and b) it's supposed to be a lighter film compared to the second.
I don't know. It all depends on how good The Last Jedi is. I have faith in Rian Johnson, but if it disappoints, I doubt I'll care enough about the third one.

So it'll be a rehash of Return of the Jedi, then?

I think nothing describes J.J. Abrams better than a bowl of carrots.

Well, I liked Abrams' take on TFA so far and he's pretty much a safe choice. So that decision made sense. I predicted that move as well. No surprise there. It will also be set to come out on the same day as Wicked.

Keep that horrid, horrid defiler away from my Star Wars script!
Oh, and J.J.'s writing it too. I'm okay with that.
