The extent of my knowledge of that show is that a bunch of random Brits use a phone booth. So it’s just a regular day in Ipswich?

He actually looks like a Sith lord about to Force-choke someone in that pic...

Smith isn't really a great actor, but he made a great Doctor. The "Sad old man who stole a magic box" speech is among the show's finest moments.
I think he'd make a great addition to SW if I cared anymore. He has the energy to make a fun character, but with Episodes 7 & 8 being so bad, nothing can be done to salvage this series anymore.
Edit: Now, if Peter Capaldi was added to the cast (preferably as a villain), then my curiosity would be piqued.

The Star Wars Celebration convention starts tomorrow, with the Episode IX panel scheduled for Friday morning. We should at least get a title announcement and hopefully a teaser.

Some stuff revealed at the Star Wars Celebration panel. Some details on Jannah, the character Naomi Ackie’s playing. More details for old characters, a new droid named Dio (DO, D-O?), and a title reveal. The Rise of Skywalker
And Ian McDiarmid laugh?

Lando, Palpatine, Skywalker in the title? this is kind of a U turn after 'kill the past' Last Jedi.

Jesus fuck. Basically confirms my worst suspicions. Looks like Abrams about to take a shit all over The Last Jedi. This looks prequel-bad. My god.

This looks prequel-bad. My god. I mean, Revenge of the Sith was really good, and the most interesting cinematic Star Wars story.

Exactly, and it was great! Which is why rehiring Abrams felt like a bad idea from the start to me. They're just gonna retcon a movie most people didn't like. Okay...

This looks bad, but the only thing worse than TLJ is Ratner's X-men film.

Lando, Palpatine, Skywalker in the title? this is kind of a U turn after 'kill the past' Last Jedi. Well, TLJ couldn't stick with actually killing the past anyway. It wanted to do that a little bit, but it copied from ESB and spent its whole finale undermining everything that had happened earlier in the movie (from a thematic standpoint). Anyway, onto this teaser.... which looks like a parody. It says so little (which I'm fine with), but does it in such a cookie-cutter, formulaic way. Which is precisely what I've always expected from J.J. Abrams and Disney. I hated TFA and didn't like TLJ, and I'm honestly not sure if I'll watch this crap at all. Why would I want to subject myself to more of this.

The Rise of Skywalker? Really? That's the most fanservice-y title ever lol. Aside from the overuse of the word "rise" in movie titles, it feels weird having a character's name in it while all the other Star Wars titles are less specific. Say what you will about the movie, but Revenge of the Sith is a great fucking title.
I really don't want to believe that this film will backtrack and retcon Rey's parentage, so I'm inclined to think that the title could most likely mean one of two things: either "Skywalker" is being used synonymously with "Jedi" and is a name of legend and power that Rey inherits (instead of being linked by blood) or... it could be referring to Kylo Ren, which would mean his character has some sort of redemption at the end and finally turns away from the dark side. But since he's never been referred to as a Skywalker and his surname is Solo, this makes me a little doubtful. However, it's worth noting that if you listen to the music during the title card of the teaser, it features what could be interpreted as a major-key version of Kylo's motif (which is normally in a minor key), which could musically foreshadow his potential redemption. Speaking of music, the use of Leia's theme in the teaser is majestic af.

Speaking of music, the use of Leia's theme in the teaser is majestic af. I think it's both. I think "Skywalker" will mean a Force user that's balanced and won't have the baggage that the word Jedi will have. Plus, it's used in a recent Star Wars novel that came out, Thrawn: Alliances to mean a Force user who helped navigate ships in the Unknown Regions, so I think skywalker will come to mean a Force user who guides others. Also I do think Kylo will be redeemed. I probably shouldn't mix fandoms, but I believe that Ben and Rey are Anakin and Padme either reincarnated or just symbolic versions of them. They have to heal the past from the damage that was caused by then, and then finally the Galaxy can properly heal.

Is that really the title? This new trilogy is so confused. All I'm getting from this is it wants to make as much money as possible. As time's gone on I'm really starting to think these new movies are just a total train wreck and this one seems like it's going to seal that for me.
