Kamala Harris' potential VP picks: CABINET MEMBERSPete Buttigieg (Transportation Secretary) Gina Raimondo (Commerce Secretary) GOVERNORSAndy Beshear (Kentucky) Roy Cooper (North Carolina) Wes Moore (Maryland) Gavin Newsom (California) J.B. Pritzker (Illinois) Josh Shapiro (Pennsylvania) Gretchen Whitmer (Michigan) SENATORSMark Kelly (Arizona) Raphael Warnock (Georgia) I can’t imagine any scenario where Newsom accepts being the #2 guy Warnock is lowkey a very interesting pick

In the case of Mark Kelly it helps that Arizona has a Democrat governor and can appoint someone of her choosing to finish out his term. You don’t get that with Warnock but I do think he would boost the ticket in Georgia a bit, which the dems will need to win again. Can’t really argue with Warnock’s election results even if they were against very weak, stupid candidates who were also sabotaged by Trump’s claims that the Democrats were going to cheat and steal the elections, discouraging a lot of his base from voting since they didn’t want to participate in a “rigged election”

Warnock ain't happening. Kelly checks a lot of boxes: vet, astronaut ( everyone loves them ), not old, male, white and married to Gabby Gilford.
This is a slam dunk pick.

Good call doing this, it was just going to keep getting worse on all the other boards.

Goddamn Biden But the Covid gives and the Covid takes. He was elected because of Covid, and now steps down maybe because of Covid. I was kinda anticipating this rematch tho, dammit Biden I say just nominate Harris. It's not easy to just dominate someone these days but I predict Trump by the biggest margin since Reagan, depending if it's Harris or someone... maybe better? 🤣 Impossible. It's literally IMPOSSIBLE for any candidate on EITHER SIDE to even replicate Bush Sr.'s margin in '88, let alone Reagan's 49 states. Back then, most states were considered "swing states." Now, there are 15 at most (probably less). Frogs will fall from the sky before Harris loses California, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, Colorado, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Maryland, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, Delaware, or DC. That alone is 190 electoral votes that she is GUARANTEED. That's more than Bush Jr. or Dole got in their defeats to Clinton, so, win or lose, Trump is guaranteed to not even reach a Bill Clinton-like "landslide." Harris 100% has a chance of beating Trump. But even if he wins, Trump has a ZERO POINT ZERO chance at a landslide win. People just forget that election, I hear a lot of people say "since Reagan" in terms of electoral dominance. Nobody's winning 54% of the PV and 40 out of 50 states today. He killed Dukakis. I'd say 46 out of 50 states are pretty much set. It's just Penn, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Nevada.

Republicans already bashing Kamala calling her success due to DEI.
Excuse me, but what the beep has Vance earned on his own merit. A billionaire giving you every single one of your jobs and you failing at every single one of them is oh I don't know.....worst than DEI....he a straight DUMMY.

Donald Trump - the only 3 time Republican nominee ever in a row - the man with more Republican votes than anyone ever - who may break his vote total record this year - is not only not a fake Republican........on the contrary - he is exactly a Republican
Like Exactly.......he couldn't be more Republican in any way whatsoever ......not in 2024 at least .......

As a general attorney, wasn't Harris closer to Republican stances? I'm just asking, I'm not American.

Not in the haha sense of course..........not in that sense at all............. Mods: Can you reopen Random Thoughts thread at some point? Kamala was who I wanted in 2020 anyway, so I’m on board.
Also, a lot of pundits I follow are really excited about this. Now that you’ve taken Biden’s age out of the equation, Trump’s team are literally grasping at (plastic) straws now.
All I know is I’ve got hope, which was needed, because my family can’t withstand a second Trump term, or Project 2025 (especially as he tries to distance himself from it and his Heritage Foundation buddies, as if we’re *that* fucking stupid).

Well now Trump is the oldest nominee on record, I'm sure he will tell all of us about is beautiful health report. I'm sure that fake doctor of his will give us a glorious report on how a cocktail of ozempic shots and diet coke works wonders for your figure. Trump is not behind project 2025. He told all of us he wasn't so we should believe him Maybe it's the great late Hannibal Lector. Something he cooked up between meals.

if it’s kamala then both are pretty ass options but i feel like kamala fares better against trump than biden does so at least there’s that. although i feel she’s still a weak candidate and i feel the democratic party knows that deep down. but they need to unite quickly. hope she wins purely due to being the ‘lesser of two evils’. even with all the qualms i have
i’ll never get over how the democratic party fucked over bernie twice (moreso in 2020). had all the momentum and then buttigeg and team decide to instantaneously drop out (allegedly due to obamas call) and endorse biden while warren stays in to split votes smh. idk how much he could’ve gotten done with all the forces that would’ve been against him but that set america back quite a few years.

I think it was worse when he got screwed over in 2016. I vividly remember Bernie winning some states by 10pts and still ending up with less delegates because all the superdelegates in those states chose Hillary. The most blatant subversion of this country’s democracy I’ve ever seen in my lifetime. Too bad he sold his soul to that she-devil for a nice book deal anyway and then by the time 2020 rolled around he was going off on ThE bIlLiOnAiReS instead of ThE mIlLiOnAiReS now that he himself was one many times over. No wonder the passion just wasn’t there for Bernie in 2020 like in 2016. He still had his loyal base of supporters but the energy just wasn’t there
