Nice CBS article on Reese having a historic season on the boards. This kind of press makes it clear that Rookie Of The Year is still very much a two-horse race.

Well it totally would be..........IF she did more than just get boards, but she doesn't - so it's not Reese is a no-brainer #2 though .......and that's..........ok

^^^^ When hate watching goes wrong With O points at the half, Angel Reese has a stunning 3rd Quarter with 9 points, 16 rebounds. Pretty much a guaranteed double-double with the entire 4th quarter left to play, and she's keeping her team in contention to win the game. Also now running away with the rebound record race between her and A'ja Wilson. That's what the great players can do. They can be having a poor game and suddenly find another gear when neccesary. So yeah, a worthy Rookie Of The Year indeed.

And Reese secures her 21st double double of the season to start the 4th quarter against the Connecticut Sun. Looks like she may be heading for a career high rebounding game as well.

Chicago Sky fall to the league's #2 team Connecticut Sun in a surprisingly close game. Rookie Of The Year contender Angel Reese puts up another record breaking performance . The first player (not rookie) in WNBA history to record consecutive 20+ rebound games.

What an awful fugly game * Angel Reese and Chicago lose AGAIN - might miss the playoffs * Reese stat pads - and got a lot of boards but most of her points from the line - she got smoked on defense too..........RotY my ass GTFO.....she's no threat at all except as a rebounder * Marina Mabrey - who I talk about a lot - torches her ex team for 24 and comes up huge at the end defensvely..........the Sky have NO offensive playmakers except Chennedy Carter - they are a mess.......... Mabrey wanted out of Chicago because the post players don't pass out to the guards - and she was right..........NOBODY on Chcago ever even tries a 3 pointer now

Good thing Rookie Of The Year isn't a team award then. Victor Wembanyama won Rookie Of The Year for the NBA and his team were godawful and didn't make the play-offs. Chet Holmgren was his closest rival for Rookie Of The Year, the Oklahoma City Thunder did make the play-offs, and Wemby still got ROTY. Reese's individual achievements are keeping her in the race, which is why the hate-watching will continue till the last game of the regular season Crazy that people are already saying Reese might be the best rebounder of all time, as a rookie. That's generational talent. Even the NBA Twitter account is talking about what Reese has just done.

If there is going to be a runner-up to A'ja Wilson in the MVP race, it has to be Minnesota Lynx's Napheesa Collier, despite the Vegas odds not saying so (though Vegas odds often reflect popularity more than merit). Collier is easily the 2nd Best player in the WNBA after Wilson this season, and congratulations to her on a historic performance tonight and a fantastic season.

Oh dear, I guess Reese's latest feats have put a sizable dent in the narrative the CC army have been trying to hammer home since the return from the Olympic Break that "there is no Rookie Of The Year race. Caitlin has it sewn up, poor Angel can't be compared to CC etc etc". Fox News: Angel Reese records WNBA first, as Rookie Of The Year race heats up

Napheesa Collier, the only serious alternative to A'ja Wilson as MVP ( though Wilson's stats are too good not to win it) gives Indiana Fever a beating with a 30+ point game with the Minnesota Lynx.

In Rookie Of The Year watch, Turnover Queen Caitlin Clark had a solid statline in the Indiana Fever's loss to the Minnesota Lynx, except for the far above the norm 7 Turnovers, which are getting hard to ignore and will always prove costly against better teams. As her teams primary ballhandler, the amount of turnovers CC has per game is unacceptable. Even CC's usual boosters in the media are struggling to push her turnover issue under the rug now.

Pretty sure the Ranking of 1 is next to Clark's name - because there is no advanced stat - that can make up for a difference of 11% - ELEVEN FUCKING PERCENT - in True Shooting Percentage or that equates JUST rebounds - which by themselves contribute 0 - ZERO - points to anybody's assists .......... assists contribute 2 or 3 for EACH one........and Clark does it at a rate nearly 5 TIMES more than Reese GTFO with this DEI, everybody gets a prize bullshit ...... Reese is #2, she can't score - that's it .......let's honor what she does well (rebound, play defense every 3rd game) - not lie about what she isn't ........

I think the difference between Reese and Clark, is that even Reese's biggest supporters are willing to acknowledge that she's far from the finished article and has plenty of things to work on (like efficiency at the rim, which can be fixed). It feels like the loud majority of Clark supporters live in some delusional wonderland, where she's already the best player in the WNBA, legitimately going toe to with Wilson and Collier for MVP on merit (thankfully, that should die down after last night's turnover masterpiece), not just because she's insanely popular with Vegas and a media darling, and has zero flaws or anything to work on. Both are rookies, and both are having historical seasons and showing major flaws that you'd expect rookies to have and expect to be corrected in following seasons. But we are only supposed to notice those rookie deficiencies in Reese. I think the ROTY race between them is incredibly close, because both have major positives and negatives in their games in their first season. They both deserve praise and both deserve grace for their flaws, but only one is getting any grace for their flaws. But maybe that's too measured an assessment and not fanboyish enough

Kelsey Mitchell, the actual most efficient Guard on the Indiana Fever.

Yes ^, but not an MVP candidate like Clark is (2nd? 3rd? 4th? whatever) - Mitchell is so efficient because she can make her layups on passes she gets from Caitlin Clark ........get it? .........Reese had a Kelsey Mitchell of her own but HER's didn't want to play with her in 2024........ because Reese is a problematc pro player (not college) - Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso do not pass - at all - out from the post because they are rebounding bots ................love Marina Mabrey............talk about her all the time in this thread
Chennedy Carter is a problematic player for Chicago too ..........but unlike Angel Reese she can create offense, score, make a layup..........get it?
