Is this real? Makes sense - it ends bad - a PTA specialty usually (and I love him but his endings are often iffy) and like Magnolia - it end at the 120 minute mark and goes ob for 76 more hours

I'll need more than a tweet from a second-shelf critic saying he heard a rumor to believe PTA did much of anything on Killers. It just feels like too big of a name, too significant a deal for this rumor to only come up now and have no support whatsoever.

De Niro officially has the biggest all-time gap between first and last Oscar noms! 49 years from GF: Part II to Killers. Surpassed Kate Hepburn's 48-year record (1933-1981). And Jodie Foster got pretty close herself! 47 years between Taxi Driver and Nyad... It should be 50...he got absolutely fucked for Mean Streets. Anybody here think he's got a shot, or is Downey running away with it?

Director's branch continues to be trustworthy, they will throw a curve in exciting ways. Acting branch should take notes

This was a really good year for movies, the best since at least 2015, maybe 2010, but as expected the Oscar nods are a lot of meh that left out some of the best of this year. The worst snubs-
Napoleon for the whole truckload but I know I'm in limited company on that one Asteroid City for the whole truckload as well. No techs is just nuts. Portman for Actress Fassbender for Actor and The Killer for editing (!!!). Like, even if you hated the movie I don't see how the editor's branch can not appreciate the work there. Leonie Benesch in The Teacher's Lounge for Actress (which is still "unsung" for the record) Cruz in Ferrari for supporting actress

As for the PTA thing, didn't really feel his fingerprints on the movie at all, feels way too conventional. PTA's KOTFM would have been way better.

I am thoroughly disgusted and appalled by Ferrera's nomination. Legit one of the worst acting nominations of all time. Waah! Your misery makes the silly nomination worth it. 🙏 She was undeserving, but it's not even remotely close to one of the worst acting nominations ever. Might not even be the worst this year. Such a predictably melodramatic & laughable reaction. 🤣

Hold up. Gangs of New York got 10 nominations and lost all. The Irishman got 10 nominations and lost all. And now Killers of the Flower Moon got 10 nominations... Will the Marty Curse of 10 continue? I think Gladstone wins. Otherwise, this is happening.

Happy for the anguish Sasha Stone is feeling right now with the Sound of Freedom not showing up. No clue what this is about, but shiny light sparkles in my heart anytime Sasha Stone OR Grace Randolph feel anguish about ANYTHING.

Bening currently laughing and flipping the bird at Natalie Portman for getting snubbed. Just like last time when she was nominated for The Kids Are All Right and Swank was snubbed for Conviction

I'm feeling bitchy so I just want to laugh at the people who had Melton ahead of De Niro one last time. Goodbye.

Also, the second year in a row where animation was recognized ONLY in its respective category. Even though it should be taking up two slots in Original Score

Also, Marty is officially our first octogenarian Director nominee. Robert De Niro is also now the ninth oldest Supporting Actor nominee.

If the Coens took credit on Bridge of Spies, I'm not sure what stops PTA taking credit for a similar overhaul on KotFM. Plus correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the WGA get involved and assign credit themselves if the director or producer is a contributing writer? I'm not sure why PTA would decline credit for co-writing a Scorsese movie, nobody's that embarrassed and wouldn't they have loved his name on it anyway?

Ruffalo is also now likely to be tied with Arthur Kennedy and Claude Rains for the most Supporting Actor nominations without a win in any category.

Why does the Academy dislike Todd Haynes so much? The fact that this got no acting nominations makes me hate Maestro all the more

Omg, I'm sooo ashamed! Phhft, as if! 🤷♂️ I predicted what looked like a lock on paper that ended up being a shocking snub. They happen sometimes. I still feel 100% justified in thinking it seemed like a lock, so I'm not the least bit sorry in being so "bullish" about it. Plenty of people were acting just as "bullish" about Payne in the last few weeks, so guess they have egg on their face too. But I correctly predicted Ferrera, whom everyone thought was DOA after SAG/BAFTA. And I called the KoTFM song getting in! Also, Triet/AoaF > Gerwig/Barbie, so no pain at all at being wrong there. KoTFM being ROBBED in Actor and especially A. Screenplay is definitely infuriating & ridiculous, though. I didn’t see me or any of the other Payne predictors calling him a “lock”. Everybody who knows the Oscars knows not to use that word in the directors category.
