I'm so happy Mladenovic lost, I really don't care what happens on the women's side from here on out. Svitolina's looking crazy strong, though I wouldn't be surprised at all if Halep came back and won the first set pretty easy. And Pliskobot looks properly calibrated today. Suuuuuuuuper disappointing end to Carreno Busta's run. I don't think he was ever gonna win that match, but it still sucks to end it like that. lol Djokovic I kind of wanted Mlad to get through purely due to the fact that a potential (no matter how far fetched) final between her and Garcia would be pure gold drama. Still, I'd agree that with her (and Woz) out there's nothing but positives to come out of the womens side now. This Plisko-Caro match is getting hooooooooooot. I love some good WTA drama, but I just couldn't stand watching her play. French crowds are insufferable enough on their own. I made and ate breakfast in the time it took them to play that 5-5 game.

Djokovic dumped out! I guess it isn't a massive shock, but still, I figured a Nadal v Djokovic final was on the cards. I'd love to see Cilic take this.

Kei and Stan are my favorites so obviously one of them winning (somehow) would be the dream, but failing that I'd totally be on board with a Cilic win, actually. He's been real strong recently.

I know everyone loves him or whatever, but it's just so boring seeing him win. It really is boring, especially here. I kinda lost interest in the men's side of the game when it was Nadal and Federer winning every damn thing between them, and it would be a real unwelcome blast from the past to see the first two majors of the year go that way.

The Halep/Svitolina second set was insanity!!!! I'm predicting Svitolina will win the 3rd set but what a bloody fight back.
And prayer circle ready for Kei please.

What was she, a set and 5-1 down? Poor Svito. Knew she couldn't keep that up. Also, my heart breaks for Caro

I kno I know but Svitolina's peak playing in the match was stronger than Halep's (and I thought this mystery back injury might finally show up after two big sets like that for Halep). I thought Svito would funnel some of that anger and aggression after losing the 2nd into winning the 3rd set after the tiebreak was so competitive (at least at the start of it) - she was hitting a lot better than Halep for the majority of the match, just her footwork gave up on her when Halep got that second wind (first wind?). Truly happy for Simona though, what a fighter. I hope she wins the whole thing.

That was the most frustrating 2.5 hours of my life. Why Kei He loves to torture himself (and especially me). At least this one was quicker to wrap up in the last set than his usual 17 hour long 5-setters.

All my dreams are on Stan's shoulders now. Dreaming of a Stan/Domi final. Their combined ground strokes would crush the ball into a fine dust.

I appreciate a good steamroll as much as anybody and Nadal's win won't be unearned, but Stan the man vs Thiem would be a much more intriguing match up, for me. :/

That was the most frustrating 2.5 hours of my life. Why Kei Because he still hasn't the mentality and the body sadly to win a Grand Slam. It starts already with the earlier rounds in his case. He wastes to much energy there, cause he rarely has easy wins. In the matches himself he wins just too few easy points. He can't rely on his serve, and from the baseline he is brilliant, but the Big 4 were (are) even better - and usually much more consistent than Kei is, who can go from great to weak within a few shots. So he dires during a Grand Slam and with his injury history those two weeks always become a tough task. And still top tennis is decided largely in the head as well. There Kei still seems to lack and he struggles at important moments. It's a pity. After he beat Djoko at the US Open 2014 in the semifinals I though he would made a huge step forward, but it hasn't happened. I really think he needs another big win.

Today the WTA semifinals: Well, Halep was my pre-tournament favorite and the duel with Svitolina was - at least in my eyes - the anticipated "final". I really don't think she will lose to Pliskova on the clay of Roland Garros. The final could be something different, but we are not that far yet.
As for the other semi I see Bacsinszky ending Ostapenkos run.
Regarding the men, which of course interest me much more: Nadal - Thiem This is not only the match of my two favorite players, but also between the two best claycourters this year and the two players who have played the best in Roland Garros so far. Will we see a change of guards here? As he did against Djoko Thiem will come out and attack every ball he has a chance. But I'm also positive that Nadal will offer more resistance than the Serb. Thiem beat Nadal in Rome, but Rafa didn't play at his best here and he likes the Chatrier more than any other court on this planet. Nadal isn't playing like he did on his peak, but he is close again. And then you can't pick against him. So I'll say Rafa goes into his 10th final in Paris.
Murray - Wawrinka Murray has become stronger with every match, but I still see Wawrinka as the favorite. While not as dominant as Nadal or Thiem the Swiss also hasn't lost a set so far. He looks pretty determined, reminding me of his fantastic run in 2015. He is a proven winner and in this form I favor him over Murray, who still is not at his best. Clay is Wawrinkas favorite surface and Murray least favorite. So I'll say Stan goes to his fourth Grand Slam final.

Halep has to be easy favourite in her match. Pliskova has done incredibly well to get this far on this surface, but I feel like her only chance today is if Halep hasn't fully recovered physically/emotionally from what she went through yesterday.
The other one is the far more interesting match to me. Ostapenko has huge game (I believe she's painting the lines with greater accurace than anybody left in the tournament, man or woman) she's huge of both wings, and so far has shown absolutely no fear whatsoever. Combine all that with her cute as a button personality, and she reminds me a lot of Monica Seles, and her baby faced assassin scariness on clay. I just think Timea with her greater experience, her dropshots, and general variety, will probably move her around a lot, and capitalize on the breeze, and have too much for her today.
Either way, should be two great matches, and an interesting final either way.

Could become the youngest Grand-Slam-Finalist since Caro Wozniacki at the 2009 US Open.

Yeah, but Bacsinszky still has a good chance. This match is totally open. Cause mostly in tennis it's more important to make less mistakes than to hit more winners (well optimal usually is a mix of both). And Ostapenko showed she can hit many errors in a row as well. Still Bacsinszky should become a bit more aggressive as well.

It will be a freaking tragedy if she doesn't win this now. It's hard to call anyone the future of the womens game knowing how many there have been in the past decade who looked set to be just that, and then lost it, but what a character this kid is, and what a story this would be.
