The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) just approved of lab-grown chicken. They say the food is safe for human consumption. The U.S is only the second country (the first was Singapore) approve such meats. The meat is grown from animal cells. Would you try "cell-cultivated meat"?

Considering they use growth factors to multiply cells faster, no, I wouldn't eat it. Not sure it's safe.

Animals are not being harmed. Less pollution. The only thing is the taste - it might need more years of research before people enjoy the taste. I am not sure what "monster" you're creating.

I would say do a search on "Does the FDA only approve safe products" and see what you come up with .......speaking of taste:

I will wait it out a bit until there's a more global consensus on the safety of this.

You trust the government? In this context, yes. Do I trust the House and Senate? No.

I didn't talk about the meat cells, I talked about the growth factors like hormones added to the meat cells to make them grow faster. Few months ago a doctor refused to give me a therapy with injection of my own stem cells because he said there isn't long term use data so he can't be sure they won't evolve in cancer cells. I'm not getting chicken stem cells either.

The inevitability of lab-grown food has been obvious to me for at least 5 years. GMOs aren't going anywhere. Just seems like the natural next step given how much we've depleted natural resources and strangled the environment. In 100years we'll be eating plastics like in Crimes of the Future. Yummy!

The lab-grown and GMO universe is going to get bigger and bigger. What we see now is the warm-up exercise. Kid gloves. As long as it tastes good and safe, I am not going to complain that much. Personally, I am an omnivore, but like to try out different styles of food.

Does anybody else find this too much Man being creepy Godlike (sorry MAR you have to believe in God to get the example ) / Frankenstein's Monster-ish / Jurassic Park-ish? That would be an inaccurate description of what is happening here. We're not making a new live chicken or a new species of animals, but growing meat chicken from animal cells. GMOs are nothing new. We create plants all the time in labs, by crossing different plants together.

I'm a simple God-fearing Christian man who likes his chicken the old fashioned way - running around, scared for its life and bloody when executed .......... What you are describing is a form of sorcery or witchcraft.........I wish all of you good luck with this newfangled poultry coven however

They won't try it at first, but it will become unescapable because it will be pushed so much.

I looked at the poll. It was 48% Yes, and 50% No. That's a decent starter number for something new in the market place.
