From what I've heard, the trailer seems to mostly be showing the beginning of the film, and it supposedly goes to darker, more emotional places later on, so take from that what you will... I mean, when I finished watching the trailer one of the first things that came to mind was 'These characters are definitely not ending up well and shit will go downhill in a big bad way' so yeah, I'm sure it's not gonna be a three-hour debauchery fest.

in my defense, I didn't know anything about the story beyond the period Hollywood setting. So my assumption that it would be a contender was based on another assumption that it was going to be a type of film that it seemingly is not. Yeah it has a lot of muscle behind it but so did House of Gucci 🤷 we'll see what the reviews say I don't really see anything wrong with your previous commentary. Nobody seems to be impressed by the trailer, but at the same time, I don't see people calling it a forth coming flop. We have to see the reviews and the next trailer. This one looks more like a teaser than anything else. It was simply designed to get people's attention. It would be great, if it didn't come across as a tonal mess. I do think this "lowers expectations", when compared to the other big trailers out there.

Looks like one of those movies where people will be kind to but will not love enough to win. Looks like a bloated mess. Yeah, the trailer looks very awkward in the wrong type of way. Trailers are designed to get your excited. This one did not. The trailers for The Fablemans, Tar, The Banshees of Inisherin and The Greatest Beer Run looked really good. This one looks like a technical player. I don’t think that’s true anymore. Yeah, trailers can get you excited, but I thought we were at the point where we agreed, “Yeah. Trailers aren’t the be all, end all for a film’s quality anymore.” By that token, I don’t think I’d be excited for most movies nowadays, considering the majority of them are… pretty mediocre, and all they’ve really given me is make me aware of a movie’s existence. (Even then, not always, because I never saw ANY trailers for The Northman, and that’s still my favorite film of the year by far and away.) Sorry, I definitely went off on a tangent. I just think that we put too much stock in the wee trailers nowadays xD Anyway, I see this being a decent player. Picture, maybe Director if it plays it’s cards right, but probably tops out at 6 or 7 nods

and that explains why it opt not to platform release this thing. I say it barely makes top ten and Damien will miss.

New trailer out today. Looks much better than the original. Playing David Bowie never hurts.

Picture is still possible but it is fighting another movie for the 10th spot. I think Pitt has a chance but Margot is probably out.

After watching this, Robbie running lead over supporting feels even more baffling. Pitt felt like more of a lead that she did tbh. Not only do I feel like she’d be heavily favored to win in supporting, she also wouldn’t be category fraud there.

Given how mixed the reviews for this have been,Margot needed to get stellar notices to land a nomination, and she didn't.I'm not ruling her out completely, but I think she's unlikely.I think Pitt's in though.

I don't see Pitt or Robbie getting in tbh - this is an aggressively tiring movie and it's the kind of movie that pushes people away - from the performances too.
The way people talk about Women Talking or The Whale not "having passion" - trust me I hated both of those and they're worse - but this is a movie that you can't spot who exactly would have the passion for it unlike those 2 tbh....
