Which woman named K(C)ate with seven Acting Oscar nominations do you personally prefer as an actor?

Lately I've been thinking that the C one might actually be my full-on favorite actress (a notion which a recent rewatch of Elizabeth only strengthened) so there you go.

Although I think at their very best they're more comparable, Winslet has far lower lows and is less consistent in general.

I generally favor Blanchett as perhaps the finest talent of her generation, but the last couple of years have made me a fan of Winslet in a way I hadn't been in so very, very long.

Winslet has more fanboys due to Titanic and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, movies that Cate Blanchett is not in. In fact, besides Kidman and Cotillard, I don't think there are any other actresses on IMDB I see people constantly getting into love battles over. Where Cotillard fanboys like to throw other people under the bus, basically everyone compared to her.... Winslet fanboys will always get emotional over any Winslet thread. And Kidman fanboys will write an essay on exactly why she's the greatest actress of her generation.
I prefer Blanchett. I think it was more equal before Blue Jasmine, but Jasmine really tipped the scale in Blanchett's favor. A lot of people say it's the same performance Blanchett has given her entire career, but I disagree.... I think she just meshed together everything she liked to do and did it to her most immaculate and degree of professional mastery.
I haven't seen Mares of Easttown, but based on what I have seen, which is most of both's filmography.... I also favor stuff like The Man Who Cried and The Gift. I've never seen Winslet play a character of a different nationality as well as Blanchett has. Blanchett also disappears into characters better where Winslet's strongsuit is her sometimes emotionally fragility, but she can't disappear into a character like Blanchett can. Winslet is pretty good at housewife roles tho..... Mildred Pierce for example, is definitely a stronger performance than Blanchett playing a housewife in Carol.
Tho, Blanchett didn't deserve to win for Elizabeth. That's Emily Watson. And from 2003-2012.... Blanchett was pretty damn mediocre. Winslet pwns her in that period. All of Blanchett's great performances came before that, and after that.

"Ethnicity"? Both have only ever played white women... I assume you meant "nationality"?

Blanchett is more consistent, but Winslet when she is great, she is much more fun to see.
I enjoy Kate Winslet performance, no matter how campy the movie is (Jude).-
Blanchett when the movie Is great and she is not miscast is a very poétical actress.
I have no clue who is the Queen and who is Matilda.

I paid tickets for movies in which Blanchett was in the cast. Sometimes as the main lead. But I watched for another reasons. Ive seen because I was fan of LOTR or a Woody Allen fan, a Marty one, or ancient ages movies. She was never the main reason, and except Diary of an Scandal the Seccond reason. In fact the seccond reason that Ive seen Blue Jasmine was Sally Hawkins. Actress that I loved since Happy go Lucky.

Love em both and Winslet of course is a ~ half decade younger - she's great But there is no actress in the English language alive that atm touches Blanchett imo - she is overwhelming in the Streep / Huppert way in a technique but not merely as just a technician way......I find her best performances unassailable in a lot of regards.........she is not all technique but she has far more technical mastery than anyone else.... I think I could make a pretty strong case that Cate Blanchett has used her voice and body - and their intersection(s) - in more complex ways, deeper and just better than any English language actress..... ever maybe I spent a lot of time in my Mrs. America review talking about her posture - her posture ffs! - and more recently I used the word "leontine" to describe a performance ......I mean .....she inspires that kind of pretentious pacinoyes-ism to describe something that is not exactly a human quality in the first place

Winslet by far. Blanchett is so artificial in most of her performances, displaying rather than channeling or summoning. She can be such a superficial performer.

While I've enjoyed far more Winslet movies and of course performances, Blanchet is just.... superlative at a different level. The Oz.

Blanchett is pretty much worse at every aspect of acting besides projecting royal imperiousness, like she did as Galadriel. Winslet is better technically, way better at projecting real emotion, a better scene partner (less of an island like DDL and CB), sexier (though Blanchett was doing new things in Don't Look Up), etc. Winslet just hasn't picked non-TV projects well lately. 08-11, she had Blanchett on the ropes. It will happen again.

Winslet's performances feel more authentic and lived-in, IMO.

Cate but kate is a great actress and she has things that Cate arguably lacks like that great, iconic and highly popular (amongs general audience) Lead performance (she arguably has 2, Titanic and Eternal Sunshine) and she probably has the best female performance of the decade so far (Mare of Easttown).
We are lucky to have both.
