So a "final offer" and also "plan B".........you mean besides tanking the stock?
Billionaire Tesla CEO Elon Musk acknowledged Thursday at the TED2022 conference in Vancouver that he is “not sure” he’ll actually be able to buy Twitter. The comments came hours after a regulatory filing revealed that he offered to acquire the company for $54.20 per share, or about $43 billion.
Twitter confirmed it had received the bid but its board must still review the offer, which values shares much lower than the $70 they reached last summer. But Musk had said the offer would be his “best and final” one.
Asked by TED’s Chris Anderson if there was a “Plan B” if his current offer were rejected, Musk said, “there is.”

Sounds like it's not going to happen but I actually think this would be a good thing. A lot of these social media guys are using their mediums as an attempt to play god and socially engineer people instead of giving people open platforms to use as they see fit, which is how the entire internet used to be. Musk sounds like he wants it for the money and prestige but wants to be hands off in terms of what people do on the site for the most part. Twitter should only take action against actual illegal content or attempts to circumnavigate site policies like another user blocking you.

It's over, he wins.....or loses........ymmv. Meanwhile my $32 dollar bid plus a 2 liter Coke I'd throw in - to take over MAR continues to be rejected because "no one has heard of any of the musical artists you like pacinoyes" Eleanor Terrett @eleanorterrett And it's official! @elonmusk is taking Twitter private for $54.20/share, valuing the company at $44B.
According to the press release, Musk has secured $25.5B of fully committed debt and margin loan financing and is providing an approximately $21B equity commitment.

He's doing this because of shit like that teen tracking his private flights. Of no surprise to absolutely anyone with even a smidge of intelligence, no, the billionaire with a social media addiction doesn't actually care about free speech on a platform he receives the most criticism from.

I think Musk is really going to be a great troll but ......alas.....I don't think he can be now......I don't know if the owner of the platform can do this stuff too much - his tweet to AOC was hilarious imo - mocking her famous "Republicans want to date me" troll job of her own.......this is some 4 dimensional chess / Trump troll stuff from him..... Although I don't know that Musk even is a Republican ..........definitely has to watch how much he tweets in this way though - it's a big difference doing it as a user vs. doing it as the owner....maybe getting it out of his system before the transfer to him is in place. I mean it's one of the reasons I keep refusing to become a moderator on MAR - my whole act only works as the self referencing rebel outsider yanno? His most recent tweets are even more Muskian©: The far left hates everyone, themselves included!
Elon Musk @elonmusk · 22h Replying to @elonmusk But I’m no fan of the far right either.
Let’s have less hate and more love.

Musk is almost certainly not a Republican given his environmental/climate change stances and I'd imagine he's socially liberal too. Which side you're on isn't really about the finer points of ideology anymore, it's about which side's BS you decide to mindlessly go along with and not call out. That's why they're so mad at him. Like AOC's original tweet is so dumb, can you imagine how ridiculed it would be if a male Republican said something like that in response to criticism? It's legit like something Trump would say (not a compliment coming from me). Musk throwing it back in her face is such good counter trolling.

From Deadline:
Elon Musk confirmed what has been speculated since he reached a deal to buy out Twitter: He’d allow Donald Trump to return to the platform.
“I think it was a morally bad decision, to be clear, and foolish in the extreme,” Musk said Tuesday at the Financial Times‘ Future of the Car conference.

He's exclusive to Truth Social Came here to say exactly this but we’ll see if he keeps his word lol I actually think if he goes back on Twitter he could cost the Republicans more votes than the abortion ruling (if true) will - not kidding......I actually don't see that as a midterm issue much to flip the trends (maybe in the Senate but .........) Trump on Twitter gives the Left control of every issue he's commenting on now. They are essentially running the midterms and the 2024 campaign as a January 6 referendum .........Trump back on Twitter translates as "See we told you he was back - insurrection!" Laura Ingraham once gave him some advice (which he ignored, natch) where she said "You got 75 million votes.......the Party still loves you......you don't need to be King .......you could be ..........a King maker"..........let's see if he ignores her twice or if he just shuts up, takes his SCOTUS victory lap, supports DeSantis, and eats the endless combo meal.

I’ve seen this point argued by several on the right as well like Mike Cernovich for example, although he’s pretty anti Trump and is vocal about wanting Trump to be nowhere near the presidency in 2024 like myself. He’s gone as far as to say that Twitter (and this was well before the Musk buyout news) would actually reinstate Trump at some point before the elections either this year or in ‘24 for that very reason you mentioned in your second paragraph, and not just making it about January 6 but everything Trump related

He's addressing Twitter employees if those employees can wake up after fainting - there's no way people aren't going to lose their shit about the owner of the platform being this bluntly outspoken in favor of one party - it's a conspiracy theory waiting to happen. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, and Elon Musk will take questions directly from Twitter employees.Tesla Owners Silicon Valley @teslaownerssv · 11h What are you leaning towards? This kind of stuff is usually really cringe but I think it actually works here, maybe because it’s a bit timely with the recent Top Gun release and the design isn’t bad (everyone will disagree. Don’t care, didn’t ask, fuck off). The guy truly is infallible. I’m visiting a friend in the DC area this weekend and I might just need to cop a shirt to aggravate the locals
