Wouldn't mind a supporting actress nod for Bhatt at all since she's getting FYC'd. Would be cool to see her get a push in Hollywood like what happened with Chopra although hopefully with better parts. I'm sorry but I didn't like this at all. It's tonal whiplash to the point of insanity I enjoy dunking on the British as much as the next person, but this is pretty much how I felt about it although I usually hate the phrase I think this falls into the "not for me" category since it is so well made. Some people would think The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is every bit as ridiculous as I did this. It's one of those things where if I watched more Bollywood movies to get more of a handle on what the tone is intended to be I might like it a bit more. Do Indians watch these things straight or is it intended to be funny? That's what I was confused about, a lot of the situations were things that felt like it should be a joke but it was being played so seriously. Don't know if that was the intent or if they're just really committed to the camp. It's kind of hilarious because my sister and I (who watch the occasional Bollywood* movie now) watched it and nearly died laughing lol, but my cousins who we watched it with, who are very much immersed in that world, were watching it straight-faced and completely confused by our reaction lmao. *using the term Bollywood loosely before anyone comes @ me

Rewatched the film with my fair lady after getting to know Rajamouli a little better through his awesome Magadheera and Eega. I'd like to issue a formal apology for that first post of mine since the movie is FUCKING AWESOME. I think I might've watched it with a sense of irony the first time but now I was able to remove the tongue from my cheek and experienced the movie in a completely straight way buying every HUGE emotion, HUGE swell of the score and HUGE bit of action. And dammit if I didn't well up when the credit song "Sholay" (which I adored the first time round too) started. The lady of the house loved it as well, maybe even more than I did! And, unlike me, on her first try! And I don't even mind that she's CLEARLY got the hots for Ram Charan. I understand where she's coming from. And I'm not even supposing - she told me herself

Oh, and another thing - during my rewatch I kept thinking about Rajamouli's Sight & Sound list, and the influence of his favorite films is all over this! There's Django Unchained in that shot where Bheem beats the shit out of a Brit with a chain (just like Django with a whip), there's Braveheart in the torture scene and the revolution stuff itself, there's Apocalypto in the jungle action... but what melted my heart is why (at least it's my supposition) Bheem's love interest is named Jenny. FORREST GUMP!

But yeah, so fascinating that Rajamouli wears his influences so overtly on his screen like that.

I'm sure she would've been fine although I kind of enjoyed seeing a completely unfamiliar (at least to me) actress in the part.

And yes, I would really appreciate some Charan recommendations AND some Tollywood recommendations in general You can hit me up with a PM so that we won't flood the thread.

Rajamouli's career can be divided into pre and post Magadheera. He became a different filmmaker from that film. I wouldn't recommend his earlier stuff even though they are all big hits. RRR Baahubali 2 Eega Magadheera Baahubali 1 That's how i'd rank his recent outings.

Cinema has peaked. We can all wrap up now. We're finished.
