The memes on this are hilarious. People are going on like Smith is Goku or can defeat Thanos now Ultra Instinct Shaggy: "Like, finally, a worthy opponent! Our battles will be legendary, man!" -------- Okay, I'll stop.

Smith knew exactly what he was doing. The guy is smart and calculated in everything he does. He wanted some street cred back and he's got it. Now you got NBA players giving him respect, when 6 months ago they were clowning him with August jokes . 50 Cent is a massive troll, and I'm pretty sure he mocked Smith heavily over his personal life. But he's showing Smith a bit of respect now Damian..lol. Stephen A Smith better be careful. I know several athletes that want to slap the shit out of him.

This meme wasn't about that girl slap Will gave after his wife commanded him to (um).......it was instead possibly about a text MsMovieStar sent to her that said "bitch, keep my vodka out of your fnckin' mouth" - Although this is in some ways......funnier. As Jared Leto would say in HoG...... too much-ah “The picture of Nicole Kidman was taken during the break time. It appeared that she was excited to see fellow actress Jessica Chastain across the room,” Chun remarked, adding that Chastain walked over to greet Kidman and her husband Keith Urban at 2022 Oscars." www.thenews.com.pk/latest/945607-nicole-kidmans-viral-reaction-is-not-for-will-smith-chris-rock-slap-fiasco

I agreed with these initially but this list lost all credibility once I saw Lily James was on it.

Dunno, "fashion" sites tend to raise their brow every time there's not a princess dress on the red carpet. Maggie Gyllenhaal's dress (ranked 4!!) is intriguing and dramatic to say the least and fits her perfectly, more of that ! Lily James looks effortlesly elegant Some others, like Traci Ellis Ross and Nicole Kidman were truly hideous I'll post my favs later today, been years since someone posted about the red carpet !

So, like, are we gonna keep inviting Bill Murray to randomly eulogize Ghostbusters collaborators at the Oscars?

Thoughts on the telecast itself, this was a mess. Here’s the ultimate takeaway I had with the show, and it was really highlighted by Young Yuh-jung and Troy Kotsur’s moments. What we are ultimately missing from the Oscars, that’s making it so unengaging, is it’s heart. The Oscars keep trying to go for edge, they keep trying to push the envelope, but they either end up looking like “fellow kids” Steve Buscemi, or they just push it into outright cynicism. At least when Billy Crystal would rib someone, it was coming from a good place. But I think it really says something about the ceremony, and the cynicism it keeps going for, that it’s most talked about portion is a physical assault. That THAT overshadows genuine warmth from winners like Questlove, like Kotsur, like Chastain and DeBose, or Oscar-Winner Joe Walker. And Schumer turning it into one of her skit shows doesn’t help it. I honestly kind of yearn for the days of Ben Stiller in Na’vi makeup, because at least that showed some genuine, if playfully jabbing love for the movies. This telecast just treated them like an afterthought, and that it was more about highlighting the “stars” instead of the “people” as it were. The harder it tried to force “moments” to happen, the fewer and farther between those moments came. This was just ineptitude incarnate.
Also, can ABC just bite the fucking bullet for once, and give the Goddamn telecast an expected three and a half hour running time. That way when you go 3 hour 40 minutes, at least that’s manageable.

I thought last year's ceremony as, up until Lil Rel showed up, one of the best ceremonies I'd ever watched. It moved at a good clip, winners got the chance to take their time (imagine a world where we don't get Vinterberg's heart-breaker of a speech), and Soderbergh's camerawork was quite good in making it feel less stagey than most. I know it ended on a shitty note with the category reshuffle, but for the most part I really dug what they did there. This ceremony was extremely regressive in comparison. I know everyone loves the clips, but let's be real: the clips and video presentations this year were pretty shitty. And the memoriam was godawful. The slap was obviously the rancid cherry on top, but the whole thing was just wrongheaded from the jump. That said, I actually thought Sykes and Schumer did a very good job at hosting (Regina Hall's schtick was played out real quick and it felt gross and awkward for the rest of it).

Oh god, I had blocked that Regina Hall bit from my memory. That was odious.

ABC needs to bite the bullet on everything Oscar-related. Like just let it be niche already, they're fighting a war that was lost years ago. like "fetch", the Oscars returning to their former glory as a pop culture touchstone is not gonna happen.

I didn't watch the telecast because I've had this same complaint for years. Just highlight the work and write some good-natured jokes here and there that let people enjoy themselves. I'm always going on about how much I love Craig Ferguson as a talk show host, and I'm gonna do it again below. The man makes people feel at ease and he doesn't mock others. A few clips that would make fun Oscar moments:
I'm not saying that we need this guy, but this sort of good-natured style.

Usually it’s just someone yelling or a small, cheesy segment of a monologue, and it kinda makes the actors look more try-hard than they really are. EDIT: Ir it can be a complete nothing. I think Kodi Smit-McPhee’s clip really highlighted that. Smit-McPhee’s performance is terrific, don’t get me wrong, but how the hell do you “Oscar clip” that performance?

Yeah, I will never understand people's obsession with clips. They're usually ridiculous out of context and as we've seen with Tucci/Blanchett/Phoenix, the actors find them embarrassing. Montages, on the other hand, those I will never get enough of . . . if they are done correctly.
