She’s so thirsty she’s starting to just look desperate. I still think she can score a nom though which is all that matters in the end (unless she thinks she can actually win). I mentioned this as a distinct possibility months ago, and it's only become more prevalent since. She needs to chill. Jessica Chastain has been incredibly unpleasant for a good 5 years now. She needs to get over herself.

I always saw Chastain as a magnificent actress but also in real life a dumb, silly goose.

I find it interesting that “Dos Orugitas” is the Encanto song getting all the buzz. Was I not giving that song enough credit at the time?

I’m really having a hard time trying to understand Chastain’s motivations. On one side I would like to think she’s the one taking the step in the middle of this shame feast. That globe lady talked about some changes, don’t have a clue what they are apart from the new members, so maybe they learned something this time, I wonder what they have to do for approval... anyways, if that’s Chastain’s gig, fine but ever since she has a twitter she comes off as a self proclaimed Hollywood ambassador, riding every topic that has surfaced in the last few years.
And agree with a post in the last page. Pundits are delusional trying to make the critics choice happen just because they’re part of it. At least the Globes have the decades of unashamed Empire attitute and not fake Hollywood decency...

Looks like this will be a quick ceremony. They are just going to announce the names and that's it. But to me, the boycott for THIS YEAR, seems pretty illogical. I get the concept that NBC doesn't want to broadcast for 2022, but nobody wants to present the awards. Really? The HFPA supports the art of film making and film preservation. They already added 21 new members. All people of color, half of them are women. What more does Woke Hollywood want from them?

so will the HFPA be out of the doghouse next year?? This boycott carrying over a whole year seems silly. The season feels off without them.

It seems like the protest should have happened in 2021. You know, before the HFPA made their overhaul changes.
It is hard to say what will happen in 2023. My impression that we live in a fickle society, and in 2023, Hollywood will have completely forgotten their grudge against the HFPA.

Question: is there going to be a link for the live stream tomorrow? No. But apparently they'll be revealing the winners to us on Twitter and on their site starting from 6PM (PT) time.

stephen - Kotsur is an interesting pick! I think the Globes would typically go for a bigger star, but if they’re fully committed to re-branding themselves… Is this your train of thought?

I feel like the Globes are going to be making a conscious choice at image control this year, and while I don't think that necessarily means all of their picks will be reflective of that, I definitely think that's going to be on at least a few of the voters' minds. Supporting Actor is also the category where I don't really think any of them fit a traditional Globe pick, so they can afford to go outside the box with it. And I just feel like The Power of the Dog is too atypical for them beyond Best Director.

I could definitely see a Kotsur win too. It's a very tempting prediction.

Best Drama: Belfast Best Musical/Comedy: Don’t Look Up (I know DLU missed Director, but I feel the Globes would have nominated McKay had they seen all the positive attention it has received from Industry people.) Best Director: Jane Campion, The Power of the Dog Best Actor (Drama): Will Smith, King Richard Best Actress (Drama): Kristen Stewart, Spencer Best Actor (Musical/Comedy): Andrew Garfield, tick, tick…BOOM! Best Actress (Musical/Comedy): Rachel Zegler, West Side Story Best Supporting Actor: Kodi Smit-McPhee, The Power of the Dog Best Supporting Actress: Ariana DeBose, West Side Story Best Screenplay: Belfast (I think they’ll go with Belfast because they like it more, but I’m guessing some of the members will be confused if they should go with DLU if they’re concerned with trying to predict the Oscars.) Best Original Score, Hans Zimmer, Dune Best Song: “No Time to Die,” No Time to Die Best Animated Feature: Encanto Best Foreign Language Film: The Hand of God (Part of me wants to predict Drive My Car, but I think that the NSFC win came too late for the Globes to care. Plus this is one of those categories where the Globes almost always do their own thing anyways.)

I have Belfast for Drama and Director and PTA for screenplay. I am not very confident on these picks at all. The Globes really have no real precedent happening. For Drama, I can see them go for any of them except for CODA, unfortunately. I am going with Belfast because it won Toronto and it was a "personal story for Branagh". In 4 of the last 5 seasons, the Globes have honored the TIFF winner in the motion picture category. I like PTA for screenplay because the globes like the most "talky" of the pictures.

Nicole Kidman, Being the Ricardos) Best Actor (Musical/Comedy): Andrew Garfield, tick, tick…BOOM! (Alt. Peter Dinklage, Cyrano. DiCaprio is very close). Best Actress (Musical/Comedy): Jennifer Lawrence, Don't Look Up (Alt. Alana Haim, Licorice Pizza) Best Supporting Actor: Troy Kotsur, CODA (Alt. Because Belfast is more in line with the HFPA's general tastes (it is tied with their most nominations) and its screenplay feels more traditional than something like Licorice Pizza. It should also be noted that this is PTA's first ever nomination with the Globes; they have snubbed him consistently and even though they responded to Licorice Pizza well enough, he still missed in Director, which makes me think that they probably aren't chomping at the bit to reward him. And I feel like Belfast will win something else to bolster its Drama win, and I think Screenplay makes the most sense. As for why I'm predicting Campion, well, she's the overwhelming favorite at the moment and I feel like they'll follow the leader. Spielberg and Villeneuve are definitely strong alternatives that I can feature, but I'll stick to Campion because I don't think they'll entirely blank The Power of the Dog.
