6 of the films in My Top 25 made the bottom half of the list, and 1 barely missed the Top 100 cut. Curious how many of the remaining 18 make the Top 50.

One of the greatest, one of the most striking, blood-chilling movies about power. And Volontè gives a GOAT performance.

Always preferred Life of Brian to Holy Grail, but both warrant a place on the list either way.

Polanski's The Tenant is such a delirious trip, with so many themes within one another. One of his peaks, imo.

Harold and Maude is Ashby's best movie. Ashby is such a curious case, he had an incredible decade with lots of success and Oscar nominations and then it all fell apart for him.

A case can be made for Blazing Saddles being the funniest film I've ever seen, that isn't about an Airplane.

Suspiria (1977) Director: Dario Argento 72 points from 5 ballots Highest Placement: #3 on 1 ballot
Missed my list at the expense of another Argento but could have easily made it - you could teach an entire course on the fairy tale aspect and use of color alone in this very great movie......

I wanted to love THE TENANT soooo much!! Polanski is not just one of my favorite filmmakers, but an absolute MASTER OF HORROR (all-time Top 3 in the genre) and the film has several great chilling moments of genuine dread in the first half, but the anti-climactic and just plain GOOFY last act killed it for me. Hate to say it, but I think it's the most overrated Polanski film I've seen.
AMERICAN GRAFFITI, on the other hand, is a luminous, nostalgic & transporting MASTERPIECE that definitely made my ballot. It's also in my all-time Top 5 coming-of-age films. I love the original STAR WARS trilogy, but I'll take this gem over ALL of them any day of the week.

I know many have issues with the script and the plot in general, but I don't care if the visuals are this good. Deep Red deserved to be on this list too, considering Black Christmas made it.

I didn't expect it to be so low. A timeless masterpiece imo, and as far as screewriting goes, this is one of the GOATs. As you can imagine, that #9 was from me.
