April Poll: What Will Win Best Picture?

What is even the point of this poll???

Everyone is going to vote for Nomadland - and say that "nothing's change".

Considering someone voted for Minari, that might not be the case.

I'm pretty sure I'm the last person you need to convince about a Nomadland victory.

And yet, you're still here.

Plus some posters picked the right winners, I definitely didn’t lol.

If we count the old boards, I think Birdman was the last time the majority called it, but even there was still some doubt because Boyhood had the better MC score, and had won BAFTA and GG-D. 

Although the acting races have usually been more predictable, I do like that in the last ten years or so, there’s been more doubt as to what’s going to win. Not that I necessarily mind years like this year where one film has just dominated, but in the 90s and some years in the 00s, sitting through some of the ceremonies where one film dominated didn’t always make for the best entertainment especially when it happened more often than not. 

I do have one suggestion for this poll though. First day of the month is kind of arbitrary and irrelevant to awards season. Maybe next year we can try it via landmark dates? First several months of the year monthly is fine but maybe after that do something like

*Post major critics awards NY, LA, NBR
*Post SAG, Globes nominations since these are close
*Post DGA, PGA, Bafta ASC, ACE etc nominations since those mostly come out a week or two from each other
*Post Oscar Nominatuons
*Post Guild Wins
*Just before the Oscars
