1. Delroy Lindo, Da 5 Bloods. I have serious problems with the film at times (that screenplay, woof), but man, Lindo is putting on a fucking masterclass and you could tell it would do so much for his career to get that boost. 2. Mads Mikkelsen, Another Round. As unbelievably chuffed for Vinterberg as I am, man, I wish Mads had been able to squeeze in. 3. Bo Burnham, Promising Young Woman. I know he didn't have a chance in hell, but with the love they showed for the film, I wish he'd been able to actually get in for what is actually a supporting performance in a category jam-packed with frauds.

A lot these so called "snubs" were more wishful thinking - not serious contenders. Unlike Ma Rainey and One Night, which got PGA nods. Unfortunately, in a year that is supposed to be about representation only 2 of the 8 Best Picture nominees are films about POC.

None tbh - maybe Zeller in director who reminded me of Haneke in a way in this film - which is amazing for a first time director. Maybe Burstyn because I'm a fan but didn't really expect it - she had an Oscar nomination worthy scene though. Maybe Mads who I don't love like the rest of MAR does - or his film (like it, didn't love it) - but was maybe 4th or 5th in the category and seems like a guy who should be a nominee at this stage of his career too. Most of the other snubs seem logical to me and worse they seem.........RIGHT ........ Murray was great but smallish Lindo was great but like I've said many times dies with plenty of movie to go for a lead ........so tough break way it goes and there were at least 3 and maybe imo 4 ahead of him : Riz, Boseman, Hopkins, and to me arguably Oldman (I'm a Mank fan) who centers and dominates his film - which is a better film than Da 5 Bloods .......and haven't seen Yeun.......just saying Lindo wasn't undeniable. Also he's 68 - 68 year old guys, never nodded, in a category they don't belong in.....nah. Boseman wasn't worthy in Support for 2 nods in 1 year Rylance I'm happiest about being left out .......even though I praised his 2020 turns to a certain degree I also found them lacking in several ways also Pretty content with these nods tbh....I agree with that "wishful thinking" and "not snubs" thing listed earlier in the thread

We all knew it was coming, but Lindo was still a tough pill to swallow.

Gave the performance of his life. It's all good though..his direct to camera monologue is going to be dissected and re-enacted by acting students for years to come I think.

Tenet for Score, Soul for Screenplay and Lindo for Best Actor. And after watching One Night in Miami last night, I really wish it had gotten that ninth slot or gotten in instead of Mank.

I'd say Bill Murray but he never had a real chance.
Lindo is a big snub imo, actually I think he was in the 6th place.
Zeller was amazing and I really wanted her to get a nod. I'd also love to see Loren and Burstyn winning another nomination (most probably their last), but I don't consider those to be snubs.

Göransson in Score is the biggest one. More deserving than any of the nominees tbh (except for maybe Soul).
Also, Mank in Screenplay.

There were a lot less fewer snubs for me than usually, but...
Mads Mikkelsen Sophia Loren Ellen Burstyn Helena Zengel Bo Burnham
And I know it had no chance in hell, given it wasn't even Poland's official submission for international film, but goddamn it, The Hater belonged at the Oscars.

Delroy. Though not sure I would call it a snub at this point. The academy sadly just didn't take to the film (with Boseman missing as well).

I thought Mikkelsen would be there, but the truly annoying ones are from below the main categories, in documentary Dick Johnson is Dead, Boys State and Welcome to Chechnya felt like sure bets to me, I know sometimes the brach is a bit selective to films with a mainsteam exposure but the ones that got in are not exactly underdogs, and imo quite terribly executed in terms to get their points.
Same goes for International Film, normally one of the most ( if not the most ) consistent category, is a itof a mess, just saw Better Days and is so cloying and sappy, Dear Comrades and A Sun should be here or any of the 5 or so I saw from the shortlist.
And more tech presence for Emma and The Personal History of David Copperfield which got nothing.
