All I cared about this whole season was Raci making it. Though Sorkin missing director and Mank in screenplay is equally delicious. GET IT, CAREY.

Ma Rainey's Black Bottom missed. Mulligan is winning. Eh, I'd still say Day is her biggest opponent.

Lakeith Stanfield in Supporting (!!!) must be the most surprising acting nomination since... Maggie Gyllenhall maybe.

Time for the think pieces about Ma Rainey, and One Night in Miami missing, even though The Father and Sound of Metal are better films. Incorrect. Sound of Metal is incredibly overrated.

Based on The Father's haul can we agree that Hopkins would be winning if he was facing a living man. Yeah, pretty much. If Boseman was alive, that would have been a quite clear welcome to the club nomination. But of course, he won't get another chance...
Ma Rainey's Black Bottom missed. Mulligan is winning. Eh, I'd still say Day is her biggest opponent. People are still thinking the Globes winner is the default favorite even though the other two women that won weren't even nominated?

This is a good day for the U.K with 40% of the acting nominations going to British actors, the most it's been for many years.

I feel like the person most thankful for that Stanfield nomination (other than Stanfield himself) is Sacha Baron Cohen. Kaluuya might actually have a vote-splitting situation with his co-star that gives Cohen the Oscar.

The Mauritanian was a weird Globes thing. I knew it. BAFTA really fucked me over on this movie. I was content to think it was just a Globes thing, and then Rahim and the film got into BAFTA, and I had to pause and think, "Man, Supporting Actress is so in flux this year that maybe a Globe win is all Foster needs." Nope.

Super happy Seyfried still got in along with the Mank love. Judas love is fantastic and especially happy it got Cinematography and Stanfield got recognized. And of course Fennell and all things PYW.

Kaluuya might actually have a vote-splitting situation with his co-star that gives Cohen the Oscar. I’m probably wrong, but I think it’s the opposite. Judas and the Black Messiah came on strong this morning, and since Kaluuya has won everything so far, I think they’ll continue to award Kaluuya without any vote splitting. Stanfield feels like a coattail nomination in a way because of how strong Kaluuya is. The Mauritanian was a weird Globes thing. I knew it. I overestimated after the Globes. Foster now joins a very shortlist of supporting actress winners at the Globes that have missed. I think there were only 4 names on it, and the last one was from the ‘70s!!!

Nah, I think the thinkpieces will be about Mank or Chicago 7 instead of The Father and Sound of Metal. I don't see anyone having a problem with SoM getting in, in fact it'll be probably one of the most celebrated nominees.

So happy for Day, Kirby, Stanfield (despite the category fraud), Ahmed, Raci, Youn and Bakalova. All first time nominees and so derserving!
I hope Close wins so she would have the same performance winning an Oscar and a Razzie. Go Close! Make that history!

Woody getting nominated didn't stop Rockwell, won't be any different here.
