It's World Of Reel, so I'll take it with a grain of salt till a better source starts confirming/reporting. I saw the story myself and wanted to wait till another source confirmed
But even so, it's exciting to hear PTA and the GOAT may already be cooking up something. I don't believe Tiffany Haddish is going to be part of this project if it's for real, since she's in the middle of a child abuse case/scandal and would bring that baggage with her. So if PTA is going Harlem, it's probably D.

I went to a medium and asked about this potential PTA movie. They responded: Denzel. Nicki Minaj. Kansas City. Jazz. Organized crime.

Just a random recent list (from this month) I came across of the top 10 Greatest Male Actors Of All Time. Wouldn't read too much into it beyond it being a site's opinion, but it's newsworthy for this thread since Denzel is ranked no.1, as he should be . Some interesting omissions of a few actors who often get into these kind of rankings ( Pacino, Nicholson etc), but I'd say all the names are respectable for this kind of thing, as they were all seen as standouts within their own generations. www.gamereactor.eu/best-male-actors-of-all-time-1215723/10 Daniel Day-Lewis
9 Robert DeNiro
8 Leonardo DiCaprio
7 Anthony Hopkins
6 James Stewart
5 Tom Hanks
4 Christian Bale
3 Marlon Brando
2 Philip Seymour Hoffman
1 Denzel Washington

1 Denzel Washington It's trolling. Bale at #4 is beyond commentary. Though he is better than Brando if you remove The Godfather from the equation. Brando is the most overrated screen actor of all time, despite his all-time genius level work in The Godfather. He's simply not very good in everything else he did. Waterfront, Streetcar, etc. Brando is like if Blanchett (who is better than non-Godfather Brando) had a Ledger/RiverPhoenix mystique.

1 Denzel Washington It's trolling. Bale at #4 is beyond commentary. Though he is better than Brando if you remove The Godfather from the equation. I mean, Bale wouldn't be my no.4 at all ( not in my top 10 either, but I tend to place a higher premium on actors who also have done elite level theatre when assessing all-time rankings, and Bale is just a movie guy), but objectively speaking he is one of the most respected film actors of his generation and in the world currently. If you are going to start putting people from his generation on these kind lists (and they will start turning up on these lists more often as they are getting into their 50's) the obvious choices for most film buffs who have grown up with that generation of actors are going to Bale (who is there) Leonardo DiCaprio (who is there) and Joaquin Phoenix (who isn't). Though I think Matt Damon should be more commonly mentioned alongside them. I guess you probably think he shouldn't have been that much higher than DiCaprio, who is one of his main generational rivals. I have always said that Bale is essentially a Daniel Day-Lewis that works regularly and isn't as snobbish about commercial films, so he can't build up the same kind of mystique as DDL. And he can't maintain that thing that DDL does where every performance seems like an event. But Bale is an Actor's actor. I don't think he quite has Brando's (or Denzel's) level of god given, natural talent, but his commitment and work ethic is leagues above Brando.

Specializing in one field does not mean a complete lack of understanding of another. And it's a subjective ranking of their favourite actors, based on them watching their movies.

It's not like the people at Gamereactor are incapable of film criticism. Doesn't mean they're capable of it either. If you look up video gaming magazines online you will find they all just basically throw actors names against a wall and see if it sticks - and all of them do this - with different actors making the rounds - it's just trolling clickbait basically - they all do it........we've already wasted too much time talking about it ..........

What are you even crying about? Because they didn't have Pacino in their top 10 and had Denzel as no.1, it's just an illegitimate "Scandinavian "Gaming site that has no business talking about films or actors Their primary branding may be about Gaming ( Gamereactor apparently being the biggest such Magazine in Europe, so it's not a minor or small-time site either), but they are pretty much also a general entertainment news and editorial site, covering film and TV in addition to news/editorial about Gaming. I'm fairly certain their journalists are qualified enough to write an opinion piece about whom they feel are the 10 Greatest Actors Of All Time, as much as any other Entertainment Magazine is: Article on Lord Of The Rings TV showwww.gamereactor.eu/rumour-amazon-is-firing-the-creators-of-the-rings-of-power-1217683/

What's your point though? I know there are random ranking lists of "greatest actors" all over the Internet from a variety of sites.
This is the Denzel Washington Discussion Thread. I posted this particular list because it's recent and he was ranked no.1.
Therefore it's a newsworthy list for this thread for actual Denzel fans to generate more Denzel discussion. I didn't find it newsworthy enough to start a new or separate thread (like I might for say the New York Times ranking Denzel no.1 ), because I'm not familiar enough with the outlet. I even literally said, "I wouldn't read too much into it beyond being a site's opinion" and that I just saw it as a "random" list.
If there was a Marlon Brando Discussion Thread, and you came across that Fortress Of Solitude list ranking him at no.1, you could post it there and it'd be newsworthy, because he topped a random list and it gives you more reason to discuss him. I wouldn't jump into said thread and cry about it being discussed. If I didn't find Fortress Of Solitude worthwhile or important enough to comment on their list (which I don't), I'd ignore it and get on with the rest of my day. This isn't rocket science. Jumping in to get upset about it even being talked about is just weird, but you've always been weird when it comes to Denzel (especially when he receives GOAT praise or recognition). We all know it's just fucking opinions.

On a side-note, I'm really glad to see Jimmy Stewart getting his laurels. Guy's always forgotten due to the post-Brando lovefest, but come on, Stewart fucking ruled.

He was the only pre-Brando actor in our MAR GOAT Poll Top 10 - 8th iirc - and the first one behind the usual 70s suspects - Big 4, Brando, Hackman, DDL. I think nowadays Stewart and Bogart sort of fill that "Pre-Brando" guy .........Henry Fonda is the guy a bit left out relative to those 2 I reckon

1 Denzel Washington I don't agree with some of the ranking/names but they are all great actors, so from there, it's a good list. And the little write up mentionning their favorites works (which are similar to what a film's buff on here would usually mention) shows that they at least have some good movies knownledges. Sometimes I come accross on similar lists on internet where Meet the Fockers, Deja Vu and You've Got Mail replace the Raging Bull, Malcolm X or Cast Away.... this is when I start to ask myself some questions. After a quick internet search on the Denzel/PTA rumors, I found this 2 months old comment on Reddit which more or less echoes what has been said on here. Wait & See...

Fingers crossed the PTA thing is for real! Gamereactor is actually a great list, as far as these things go. We all know lots of sites across the Internet do these "greatest actors " lists, but like you said they chose a top 10 full of those recognised as among the best actors of their era/generation and showed knowledge about their best films and works within the actual write-ups. I also like how they picked at least 2 actors from different generations from the Golden Age till now.

Yeah the Nicky Minaj mention is interesting, I'm trying to picture it in my head if it could work or not. But PTA is great at getting great performances from his actors, and working with Denzel will kind of force you to raise your game. I could see it. Maybe a Rihanna as well? Have to see when they officially announce it.

Interesting to see how the reputation of some of Denzel's movies keep growing in various circles. A major UK entertainment magazine (Ladbible) with 3.6 million followers on Twitter now calling American Gangster "one of the best movies of the 21st Century ".
Cool to see this movie has become a classic for many.
