Fantastic work DeepArcher, everything about this presentation seemed like it had a ton of effort put into it, and it paid off beautifully. And thanks for finally getting me to try and write some decent film criticism after I've grown lazy on that front over the years! Very solid list on the whole. Never gonna please everyone, and things are always gonna get left off, but there's so many excellent films listed here from across the whole decade. Time to watch the ones I'm still missing.

You all need to watch Caesar Must Die (2012). Apparently I was the only one who voted for this masterpiece.

Great job on the presentation Mr. DeepArcher. It’s been fun. Does bits of this list incense me? Sure! Does it matter? No! xx

Amazing work DeepArcher!!! Only omission that makes me kinda sad is Embrace of the Serpent - had it 3rd on my ballot. Probably underseen.

Some stats.
The following filmmakers appear on the list more than once: Denis Villeneuve: 4 (Avg. Rank: 59.25) Martin Scorsese: 3 (Avg. Rank: 12.67) Paul Thomas Andesron: 3 (Avg. Rank: 14) Christopher Nolan: 3 (Avg. Rank: 28.67) David Fincher: 3 (Avg. Rank: 39.67) Yorgos Lanthmos: 3 (Avg. Rank: 41.67) Joel and Ethan Coen: 3 (Avg. Rank: 45) Damien Chazelle: 2 (Avg. Rank: 21. 5) Alejandro González Iñárritu: 2 (Avg. Rank: 26.5) Richard Linklater: 2 (Avg. Rank: 45.5) Kenneth Lonergan: 2 (Avg. Rank: 47.5) Bong Joon-ho: 2 (Avg. Rank: 48.5) Wes Anderson: 2 (Avg. Rank: 49) Quentin Tarantino: 2 (Avg. Rank: 50.5) Robert Eggers: 2 (Avg. Rank: 57) Alfonso Cuarón: 2 (Avg. Rank: 59) Greta Gerwig: 2 (Avg. Rank: 61) Bennett Miller: 2 (Avg. Rank: 67) Josh and Benny Safdie: 2 (Avg. Rank: 82.5) Steven Spielberg: 2 (Avg. Rank: 83) Noah Baumbach: 2 (Avg. Rank: 90.5) *All together, these 21 filmmakers make up exactly half (50) of the list entries.
Here is the year-by-year breakdown: 2010: 10 2011: 9 2012: 9 2013: 10 2014: 13 2015: 8 2016: 14 2017: 10 2018: 8 2019: 9 *2016 reigns supreme, which is interesting when you consider that its highest-ranked film (La La Land at #19) is lower than the highest-ranked film of every other year. It seems to me that people were generally a bit more hesitant on including films from the last few years, which I ultimately think contributed greatly to Parasite coming up short against The Social Network.
*I don’t exactly have full “stats” to break down which actors appear the most, as I couldn’t think of a practical way to go about doing that. The most I’ve found is DiCaprio, Hardy, and Driver all have 5 (two of which are an overlap for DiCaprio and Hardy), with a bunch of people following at 4 including Phoenix, Gosling, Mara, Swinton (including her Uncut Gems voice cameo), etc. DiCaprio, Gosling, and Phoenix seem to have the most starring roles, 4 each. If someone wants to a better job on this than me, that’d be much appreciated!
*Of the 100 films on this list, exactly 20 are non-English language. This includes Certified Copy, whose dialogue is split between English, French, and Italian, and The Illusionist, which has little spoken dialogue split between English, French, and Gaelic. Among these films, the country of origin that appears the most is France with 6, though this includes a number of internationally co-produced films by non-French filmmakers that were produced primarily in France, such as Elle, Amour, and Certified Copy (which was filmed in Italy, so who knows where it belongs!). South Korea follows with 4. Other countries represented include: Germany (twice), Japan (twice), Iran, Belgium, Turkey, Portugal, Mexico, and Denmark.
*Only six animated films made the list. Only two documentaries made the list, one of which is also animated.
*Of the 100 films that made the list, only seven were directed by women. Greta Gerwig is the only female filmmaker to appear on the list twice. Portrait of a Lady on Fire is the highest-ranked film directed by a woman, at #38.
*Six films on the list were directed by duos. All three of those duos are a pair of brothers (Coens, Safdies, Dardennes).
*By my count, 41 of the 100 films on the list were Oscar nominees for Best Picture. There were 88 Best Picture nominees in total this decade, so that means 47% of them made our list. Only four Best Picture winners made the list: Birdman (#8), Spotlight (#71), Moonlight (#20), and Parasite (#2). By contrast, there were also only four Palme d’Or winners that made the list: The Tree of Life (#5), Winter Sleep (#96), Shoplifters (#63), and Parasite (#2). Also by contrast, *all* of the consecutive Best Picture “upsets” -- 1917, Roma, Three Billboards, La La Land, The Revenant, Boyhood, and Gravity if you wanna throw it in there as well I guess -- did make the list.

It's a glaringly undiverse list. Not really a comment so much as a fact. Not to defend it because it is a largely homogeneous assembly of movies, but I'm pretty sure if you went to just about every single forum that would vote on something on this scale, I daresay just about every single list will have a largely white and straight roster of movies. That's because the bulk of movies made feature that as a default.

Thanks to DeepArcher for the great presentation and for the herculian effort itself! Reading the comments was a bit rough though - the hell is up with all the negativity? Anyway, the list is full of great movies. I don't see what everyone else sees in A Separation, Under the Skin, The Handmaiden and The Witch, find Toy Story 3 to be perhaps one of the most overrated movies ever and am just plain surprised to see Spotlight pop up here but overall I got go qualms with how this went down and frankly I'm not really that baffled by any of the placements - I've been here long enough to kind of know the board's tastes

And the movies which are diverse that are included are far lower than they are on say, AwardsWatch's version. The IMDB forum lists were always were white/male/straight dominated, too.

Aaaaand that's all for me. Once again: thank you so, so much to all 65 users who submitted ballots, to everyone who contributed such wonderful pieces of writing, and especially to cheesecake for putting together such a beautiful montage! (Reminder: if any of you who voted haven't voted in Viced's performance poll yet -- which is a lot of you -- go do that!) This has been a lot of fun. I was expecting controversy -- since this is a list that represents everyone's taste, it also kinda represents no one's, since obviously no one is gonna be pleased with all of them. I'll try to field any questions ... when I get to them. In the meantime, to quote the legend who celebrates his 80th birthday this week: I'm taking a shower ... and I'm gonna sleep ... for a month. Au revoir!
