In terms of hitting all the industry precusors, Taron Egerton was arguably the biggest snub in Best Actor. The guy wanted it bad as well. When I heard he invited all 90 memebers of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to his birthday party , I was like Melissa Leo  and Eddie Redmayne had been usurped in the thirst stakes You can never deny the power of the ‘slap the stud’ syndrome after this snub. I believe that he’s the very first actor to hit all of GG, SAG and BAFTA, with a Globe win and still miss.

my condolences to you too. I’ve been predicting Joker and Phoenix all season, BB. Doesn’t mean that you like the outcome, snugglepuff. 😘

Ad Astra for Sound Mixing has got to be the biggest surprise of these, right? And it's a deserved nomination too. I didn't like the movie but the soundscape was awesome.
The Lighthouse should have been there too.

Haven't watched 2 POPES yet so I can't judge but is Pryce really better than De Niro? IMO, yes.

Winona Ryder will always be the best Jo March in my book but kudos to Saoirse for still managing to create something special and magical with such an iconic and beloved character. And I sure as hell wouldn't mind her winning over Zellweger's overrated performance.

I did not expect Frozen II to get snubbed. Great to see Klaus and I Lost My Body get in over it though - both films were excellent.

The only person of color (among many who could have been nominated) got her acting nomination for the epitome of Oscar bait. The Academy will never change. You're right. Playing a slave.

And deserved every single one of them! Do I detect some shade? Not at all. 😂 Unlike many people on this forum, I have nothing against JLaw as an actor but she's definitely not on the same level as Ronan who's definitely more versatile, consistent and has higher highs. JLaw's earlier work was more impressive. Nowadays, not so much(but she's still young so she has plenty of time to come back with some smashing performances) . Ronan has never disappointed me thus far.

No, but he's very good. Not the worst nominee in the category by a long margin. Who the do you think is the worst Nominee in the leading actor category? I'm yet to watch Marriage Story, but out of the ones I've seen it's easily Phoenix. I absolutely love the guy, but this time he's just retreading familiar territory to very inconsistent results. DiCaprio was brilliant, and both Banderas and Pryce were great.

Parasite got in. That’s all that matters. Agreed. Was hoping to see Atlantics in at International Film, Song at supporting actor, and Lupita in at actress but Parasite was the most important.

So folks - Peter Farrelly, Todd Phillips, which director of greasy comedies is up next for Oscar glory? David Dobkin had a trying out round with The Judge, he should latch on to a prestige project ASAP while the iron is hot!

Where is the big change the Academy keeps promising every year with the new batch of voters? This could easily be 1996...

Maybe the directors of those dumb parody movies that came out like every few months it seemed. Or more seriously maybe Paul or Chris Weitz.
