Parasite!!! Not even Roma could pull that off that year...
Still think this is being underestimated. If even the ultra-basic SAG are watching and loving it...

I'm so off more than usual this year, lol. Figured SAG would be too basic to go for any foreign language performances anymore because of the merger. Also way overestimated Marriage Story and 1917 this season. They should be good for a Best Picture nomination still, but I don't know about Little Women. I think it might be done for BP now.

I thought The Irishman would underperform here, but it did well to get into Ensemble and 2 slots in Supporting Actor. De Niro missing probably spells doom for his Oscar chances, though, unless he somehow makes it at BAFTA.
Parasite has established itself as a possible Best Picture (winning) contender. I'd still only put it at 4th in terms of chances of winning, but you can't overstate how impressive it is that it made it in here.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood got all the expected nominations (unless somebody expected Margot Robbie). This now has to be considered a The Irishman vs. OUaTiH race in Best Picture.

Yeah, I think this means Parasite is officially in play for BP alongside Hollywood and Irishman.
In the acting categories, Eddie Murphy is done. Awkwafina takes a big hit too. Jaime Foxx is likely a SAG thing only. Hanks in again! Am low key shocked he didn’t get snubbed for Lithgow with the showing Bombshell had.
Pesci is in too.. I think that actually may be a race now.
Little Women and Two Popes completely snubbed here. I expected it for the former, but thought the latter might get something. Scarlett managed the double noms I suspected she’d get and now I think she’s getting in at the Oscars for both. Hopefully it’ll serve as a reminder of what an incredible year she’s having and help tip the scales in her favor vs Zellwegger
I should’ve stuck to my initial gut feeling that Bombshell was 100% actors catnip and that it would score big here. Theron isn’t missing and Robbie is looking pretty good too. Not sure what to make of Kidman.. I was always a big fan of her perf and preferred her to Robbie in this, but it seemed like buzz didn’t catch on for her. I think she may actually make BAFTA too? Will be interesting to see. Happy for her though, she took the short end of the buzz stick mainly because of the nature of the role but not because she gave a lesser perf.
Edit: didn’t notice that MS snub in Ensemble, wow!

They really loved “Bombshell”. Very happy for “Parasite”. And TARON EGERTON!!! 😍 I should never listen to "tea" again, lol. I took out everything for Bombshell, I believe, except maybe Theron, because everyone at AW kept saying screeners came out too late for it. Oh well one good thing is that at least Lithgow missed since I was worried he might actually knock out one of my predicted 5 from Supporting. Although I changed Foxx to Snipes at the last minute because I thought they'd go big on Dolemite Is My Name. One good thing is that I think I was right about Egerton being closer to the Golden Globe win than Murphy. He just fits that rising star that Globes like to "crown" first before the other big award shows, and I don't think OUATIH will sweep although it will win a lot of Globes.

Some really shocking things. I'm amazed that Parasite pulled that off, I think nobody even expected SAG to give them that nod. Also, it's sad that Little Women was completely overlooked But at least Nyong'o's hype is still alive!

DiCaprio is a LOCK to win that Comedy Actor Globe. An even bigger lock than OUATIH is for BP Musical or Comedy.

Lupita Nyong’o, “Us”
Yup, I knew it! I predicted that she would take Ronan's spot! 😁

Replace Egerton with Banderas, Foxx with Song, Kidman with Pugh and those might be my Oscar predictions.

Lupita Nyong’o, “Us” Yup, I knew it! I predicted that she would take Ronan's spot! 😁 That is going to be a really interesting category to track because both Nyong’o and Erivo will be lone noms. Farewell and LW should be stronger than both of their films, but will it matter if they’re not Picture nominees? Ronan will likely get into BAFTA, but I think this is probably the end of the road for Awkwafina.

De Niro missing probably spells doom for his Oscar chances, though, unless he somehow makes it at BAFTA. De Niro will make BAFTA I think (many times nodded, but 0 wins) and Pacino will miss BAFTA (1 win) .........all 3 Irishman dudes won't get in @ Bafta (Hopkins knocks out Pacino). For you Pitt vs. Pesci race people the actual way that will be a race is if Pacino upsets Pitt in the Globes or SAG - which isn't happening at all imo - but would so muddy the field as to allow someone to emerge from left-field. If Pesci wins either of these they will coalesce around Pitt for the Oscar. If anyone torpedoes Pitt, Pacino could maybe at SAG and GG because they really love him (18 Globe nods 4 wins, 4 SAG nods 2 wins).........I don't see it, but it's conceivable here much more than at BAFTA which Pitt has on lock as far as I can see.

Call me crazy but I still think De Niro will get nominated at the Oscars If you're crazy then I am too, lol. I think Banderas takes Egerton's place because Egerton definitely feels like at least one of the annual Globe/SAG nominee that misses, but I don't think Bale is completely safe yet either. De Niro could be one of those passion picks on Oscar morning especially if they vote for The Irishman in every category. Admittedly it is bad for De Niro though that The Irishman even hit Stunt Ensemble, but he couldn't get an individual nomination. I still think he has a small chance though because The Irishman could overperform on nomination morning just like Roma did last year.

Damn...Bombshell might actually pull a The Favorite with it's three actress. SAG loves Kidman, but she wasn't being predicted here.
Jamie Foxx just threw another wrench into the supoorting actor race. It's still Pesci vs Pitt, with Pacino in the third spot. Hanks should be in fourth, but can still get Captain Phillipsed. 5th spot wide open.
DeNiro on life support. Surprising Dolemite shut-out as it seemed to all like SAG bait, but at least Murphy had a Globe nod to keep his hopes alive. But Egerton has to be taken seriously now for the Oscar nod (BAFTA should throw their weight behind him to have home representation).
N'yongo may just get the Oscar nod. Erivo as well.

My 2020 Oscar predictions for Best actress : Zellweger Erivo N'Yongo OR Awkwafina Theron Johnansson I genuinely believe that Ronan will not be nominated next year I also think that Awkwafina could take N'Yongo 's spot

Lupita’s momentum is soaring with each passing day. Right now I’d be pretty shocked if she doesn’t get a nom.
