That's what i've been saying for all this time, they can't release both Last Duel and Gucci in the same year, and only one month apart, one of those two movies is going to move. 2021: The Last Duel 2022: House of Gucci 2023: Kitbag Why "can't" they again? He's going to wrap this filming in about 3 weeks - he can easily do it, the demand is pretty overwhelming for it and House of Gucci is the bigger film with bigger prospects in every way......unless it sucks I mean .........and The Last Duel has already been moved before.......if I had to bet I'd say it's going to happen exactly as planned - it's far more likely to be both films within a month rather than they "can't" do it tbh. The only reason to move Gucci is if the film itself is a dud....... It's like you've said elsewhere: 2021 is going to be packed with contenders, especially big tech holdovers from 2020. If you're a studio promoting Gucci, you want to make sure your film can premiere without strong competition. And having it come out the same year as another Ridley Scott joint, if you're looking to make sure you can make a strong play for Oscars, you want to mitigate your competition as much as possible. And Scott probably won't want to split himself between two films in a given year. You think Gucci is a bigger film with bigger prospects, but The Last Duel looks to be a huge tech contender and if you think Ridley isn't winning for it, he can just use that as momentum for a 2022 push for Gucci. More time to build the narratives for the actors and Scott himself.

I don't get why they couldn't be released at the same time, even. It would only build Ridley's narrative for Best Director. He could totally Soderbergh it, but I think studios would think that is a risk of actually splitting votes between his projects (if both are good enough to see him get Best Director nominations). The smart play is to keep The Last Duel in 2021, Gucci in 2022, and Kitbag in 2023. If they're all good, he's got three chances to build that overdue narrative.

There's not a lot of starry adult drama - especially bait-y adult drama - locked in anywhere near Gucci's plum date as for now - well until later anyway (Nightmare Alley) and that's after the (return?) of Thanksgiving weekend holiday cash that it's in play for - so my guess is UA thinks they have the better release date and the bigger commercial property too. But it's going to be a great Fall this year seeing who blinks .........

Imagine this at Venice, for God's sakes!

stephen - I need Gaga bringing the Old Hollywood glamour at Cannes, though!

I think they’re eyeing a Venice premiere not just because of the publicity, but because they’ll probably want to have a regal presentation at a Top 3 Festival and then immediately bring it to Toronto for some audience reactions.

There’s some of your favorite too. (He looks good in these costumes too. That's kind of you to say morton but honestly I prefer to think of him rather as "America's favorite" and possibly with the challenge of some COBBLER HACK named Daniel Day-Lewis possibly the world's favorite. Um..........kidding.......kidding I'd say If this goes to 2022 I think we can infer it's an f'n disasterpiece - if they play with that date at all it suggests a total 180 lack of faith on the studio's part: they locked into Nov 24, 2021, big location shooting during difficult conditions for a while now - sight unseen at least and went all in - a month away from The Last Duel's Oct 15th date too. I think from these photos we can infer something of the plot relative to what Leto said it being about "sibling rivalry" or rather "family rivalry" beyond just his role - where everyone plays sides against someone else - Leto vs. Driver, Leto vs. Pacino, Pacino & Gaga vs. Driver. It appears Pacino and Gaga have at least a couple of notable scenes - I don't get the vibe those are brief or the only ones even (?) - and you'd have to think that Pacino has at least 1 or maybe 2 each with Irons, Driver, Leto so he's likely not getting that "extended cameo" thing that he got in OUATIH. Meanwhile STILL awaiting more casting (!?!), - this may be a big week on that since they are in Rome - that Loren character cameo is unexpected and quirky and awesome - and they've added Patrizia's/Maurizio's adult daughter character (Alessandra) to the cast list also.......the trailer for this will be an event I reckon...................................... and at this rate they actually are kind of late with that, huh? This is my feeling too. MGM seems very confident in it right now, so I would be worried if they delayed it at this point. That's what i've been saying for all this time, they can't release both Last Duel and Gucci in the same year, and only one month apart, one of those two movies is going to move. 2021: The Last Duel 2022: House of Gucci 2023: Kitbag Why "can't" they again? The only reason to move Gucci is if the film itself is a dud....... I don't get why they couldn't be released at the same time, even. It would only build Ridley's narrative for Best Director. Yep, I think having two films in the same year will be a part of his narrative or perhaps his only narrative since being “overdue” might not matter especially in this category. I did see that an interview Sean Young did with The Daily Beast could potentially hurt Scott, but I think by next awards season it won’t be that big of an issue. To be fair to Young, I do believe she was treated by shit by all these men, but unfortunately she’s come across as completely crazy over many years. Even when she lost Vicki Vale, then then she acted all crazy as Catwoman on a daily talk show. (I can’t believe I can’t remember the talk show now lol, because it was just a clip that will live in infamy forever.) Or on some celebrity reality show on VH-1, she still came across as batshit crazy. So she has a long history of this, and she can’t say that someone is lying about it because there’s footage that exists. Plus every so often, she talks about these things, and unfortunately they really don’t gain any traction. It's like you've said elsewhere: 2021 is going to be packed with contenders, especially big tech holdovers from 2020. If you're a studio promoting Gucci, you want to make sure your film can premiere without strong competition. But it's going to be a great Fall this year seeing who blinks ......... Maybe if I had more faith in TLD, I would be more for delaying House of Gucci until next year, but unfortunately I don’t have a lot of faith in it beyond maybe Comer, getting a welcome to the club nomination depending on how strong the category is that she’ll be campaigned in. And maybe Driver, if he has a better chance to win Supporting, and like Washington or Cooper win lead. Anyhow after 2020, I agree that money is going to be a bigger thing than usual when it comes to award season, and I think that House of Gucci looks like it could be a big hit especially for adult audiences. I think they’re eyeing a Venice premiere not just because of the publicity, but because they’ll probably want to have a regal presentation at a Top 3 Festival and then immediately bring it to Toronto for some audience reactions. I agree. They would be dumb not to launch it at Venice, and then bring it to Toronto. And I think as long as filming keeps going as it is that Scott will be able to finish it by then.

No big photos that I saw today but here's the GOAT with what I assume is his arrest scene in a crappy photo, maybe more will come out today....the guys hand is on his head - they look like agents, no face masks etc., he's in a tracksuit so obviously not "expecting an arrest" in the plot.....

^That's Ridley Scott's producers bringing Pacino back to set after he tried to abscond back to Beverly Hills. Pacino was overheard saying, "Sometimes Aldo, sometimes Aldont. Even tho I'm in Italy, I miss La Scala's bolognese."

I mean, isn't he supposed to look older in this movie??
In these photos, he looks like 60-65 or sth like that (dyed hair etc). If I'm not mistaken, Aldo was about Pacino's age when he was sentenced, am I right?

He has to play younger for most of this ..........has to cover at least 15 years - maybe 20 years............ the 1970s with Sophia Loren (pic below) etc, until 1990......... Aldo Gucci was 81 when arrested in 1986 so Al will have to be younger for all the stuff prior.

Few things: 1) Did we know Scorsese was signed on to direct a Gucci movie around 2000....? variety.com/2000/film/news/apg-will-fashion-gucci-pic-1117785585/2) The author of the book House of Gucci, Sara Gay Forden, recently said Ridley Scott was making Patrizia "the narrator" of the movie. And she once said - “When I interviewed her in 1993 in her gorgeous penthouse apartment in Milan, I found her fascinating and a little bit scary." This could be our framing device, that they'll probably embellish to have her 'tell the whole story.' 3) Love that Aldo's arrested in his goofy track suit. "Can I change first, I mean I'm Gucci" He might ask. Clothes matter here not just with our drooling at the looks but in other ways too - how many members of this family eventually end up in jumpsuits behind bars.

Having her as the actual "narrator" must have had a lot of discussion - because here is this limited (so far) actress dominating the scenes and (possibly) setting them up verbally - that's a huge sell. Like this may be the most ambitious "Acting" piece in a long time for a pop star.........also maybe that's one of the reasons if she narrates that she (maybe?) doesn't have the accent ..........the trailer will answer so much. I can't believe for a movie that closes filming ~ April 10th we have gaps in casting - I wonder if Irons has shot ANYTHING yet at all or if they're keeping all the "missing" cast people away as a COVID protocol until needed. Also, I like Al in the track suit because he does some of his best work in those, um:

Aldo Gucci was already dead by that time. I think it will show the beginning of their relationship and the fight over Gucci. I believe they were married for 12 years before Patrizia had him killed. I can't remember all the facts but I do know one day he just got up and left and never went back home.

I feel like this gets said every year lol, but SAG Ensemble feels like it could be stacked next year between this Nightmare Alley, Don’t Look Up, Canterbury Glass, maybe Dune, etc. Auriemma sounds like a very juicy supporting role, and it would be great to see Hayek get real awards traction again since she’s had a few smaller projects after Frida that didn’t get much traction.
