First - there's no way I'm going to be bored watching this. Two - there's no way this thing is under two hours.

So, like, is Jeremy Irons only in one scene in this movie?

Basically looks likes the scene in Godfather Part II where Senator Geary threatens Michael Corleone ......with better clothes.........obviously this is a movie to get excited about in this joyless 2021 - might be a license to print money tbh........sweetie.

She wasn't nominated for her first role, as she was in Machete Kills and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For before A Star Is Born (to say nothing of her cameo as herself in Muppets Most Wanted). yes i know. besides that tho? Glenn Close legit did get nommed for her first two movies, Garp and The Big Chill. She would have gone 3/3 if The Stone Boy hadn't come out a month before The Natural. Angela Lansbury and Julie Andrews came close, nommed for their first and third (unless you count La Rosa di Bagdad as Jules' debut instead of Mary Poppins, but who does) Lady Gaga could maybe make some sort of list for fastest to get two noms within a filmography, idk. Montgomery Clift and Edward Norton are up there, I think.

After watching this trailer, i think i'm going to start predict Pacino over Leto in Supporting. I could be overestimating the film, but I think they both can get in because besides maybe one of the guys from Belfast, maybe both, and I guess Kodi Smit-McPhee, Pacino and Leto can both be nominated because I feel like the category is still so fluid/weak that even the Belfast guys and Smit-McPhee could miss if bigger performances come along. Just from the trailer and from what little I’ve heard about Leto’s performance, he definitely seems to have that kind of performance, and from the trailer Pacino may too. Plus he’s Pacino and was just nominated again a few years ago. I think Gaga can get in too if the movie is a big hit or at least go as far as SAG because other than Stewart, I also think Best Actress has room for some late contenders. Best Actor is a little more tricky especially as I don’t think Driver’s character is as colorful because the real life person he’s playing versus who the others are playing, and his category seems very set with maybe the last spot or two spots up for grabs. Maybe he still has a very small chance at a consolation nomination in supporting for TLD even with the movie bombing if the early award screenings work. I don’t know he probably misses, but it would be wild to see Ridley Scott get actors in from both of his films this year.

After watching this trailer, i think i'm going to start predict Pacino over Leto in Supporting. Maybe.......it's hard to know how the performances play off of Gaga who is really the show here. If Pacino or Leto plays off Driver more than they do her, it's a drawback. Both of those dudes are somewhat holding on to her mink coattails.......... That mouthed "me" thing Pacino does when shown the police badge is pretty great though and so is the way he says "trait-orrrrrrrrr" Like I always say, he is very fun to discuss historically in this way whenever he's a "possibility" in film/TV/stage: He is not only the most Oscar nominated working actor (for now, until Denzel joins him in the #9 club this year), but he is also the most passed over actor too I'd say......... it isn't just that he has the Triple Crown which separates him for Americans..............but that he has 15 Triple Crown nominations and 5 TC wins too. I mean those numbers are staggering when you add in the times he's arguably been snubbed for nods and wins across all mediums: No active male film star is close to that for TC nods (Washington / Spacey have 10, Robert Duvall has 11) AND that TC win amount is an all-time record too - no comparable male film "stars" have 5 TC wins........Hopkins has 4 now with his Oscar win last year......... Denzel would have 4 if he wins the Oscar this year etc.

First screening for Academy members! Leto front and center an indication? (By sheer volume of press and his "transformation" - could easily bag a nom?) and FYC! Pumped to see Camille Cottin there (she has 2-3 really good scenes in the script).

157 minutes for morton ......... Thanks. I’ve been in the process of moving the last few months, so unfortunately I haven’t had as much free time. Sorry you’re leaving in November. I wouldn’t really expect this person from Rolling Stone to hate it or rather say that publicly because I’m sure Rolling Stone wants to keep a good relationship with Lady Gaga, but for now I’ll take his early reaction as a good sign.

Ridley Scott hasn't been fun in a while but this looks so fun and a surefire contender across the board. Unless it totally bombs with critics I have to keep believing in it.

From World of Reel - um.......well that's not encouraging........then again that's just 2 people and they've been fooled before on early reviews........but ........yikes..........how can that camp in the trailer NOT be intentional - come on - !!???? It looks as though the Ridley Scott‘s major awards push this year will be “The Last Duel.” His other epic, “House of Gucci,” clocking in at a massive 157 minutes, isn’t cutting it with the critics/pundits who have seen it thus far (and there aren’t many). Albeit, I’m only basing this on two reactions I’ve gathered, so there could a (unlikely) turnaround in sentiment come this week when it’s screened for more people.
From what I’ve gathered, based on the two people I’ve spoken to, ‘Gucci’ very much aims for a serious tone, there is no fun in the film, it doesn’t go for campiness whatsoever, the camp we see in the trailer is purely unintentional. Figures, since this is a fairly serious true story about greed, vengeance and murder. A critic told me Jared Leto stole the show from the rest of the cast (“he seems to be the only actor who is self-aware of the camp”) and that Gaga is quite good, but the film is a mess filled with EXCESS. Call it Wolf of Wall Street-lite.
“House of Gucci” has a press junket coming up in the coming week. More reactions will surely leak. I am not scheduled to see it for now. The film is being released on November 24th.

He could be right, but he’s been wrong before. Also I feel like if it’s a big enough hit, which admittedly I could be misjudging since social media popularity doesn’t always mirror real life popularity, I think it can still get in. Plus I trust the word of someone here who saw it. I don’t think it will be for everyone, but it didn’t seem like a disaster the way that World of Reel is implying either. ETA: He already said he’s updating his article because he found out Mike Fleming of Deadline likes it. link

The people you’ve spoken to are dead wrong. I had a blast watching “House of Gucci,” Scott aims for a home run but gets a triple. Gaga is so invested in the thing and Leto had me cackling non-stop.”

UK & Italy Vogue covers.......full gouging at the hype buffet table - I mean who could compete with this ........with lots of juicy quotes that will be ripe for parody / mockery if this tanks.....or fawning adoration if it hits I suppose.... “It is three years since I started working on it,” she launches in on House of Gucci, “and I will be fully honest and transparent: I lived as her [Reggiani] for a year and a half. And I spoke with an accent for nine months of that.” Off camera, too? “Off camera,” she confirms, solemnly. “I never broke. I stayed with her.”www.vogue.co.uk/arts-and-lifestyle/article/lady-gaga-interview

Hmm. Patrizia Reggiani doesn't speak with an accent, but a slightly northern Italian one.
