Coon, Stuhlbarg, Odenkirk and Plemons. I wonder if Spielberg/the Casting Director is a Fargo fan.

Too bad this isn't making SAG... ensemble would be on lock with this cast.

The cast is absolutely insane. The casting director must have been watching great TV series

The Papers sounds better than The Post.
Change the thread title.

So technically changed it back to "The Post", because that's what the script was titled when it made last year's Black List. "The Papers" sounds much weightier and important, not to mention more memorable and smoother. Pity.

I would’ve fallen asleep just by looking at that picture if it wasn’t for Carrie Coon.

All that picture tells me is that Carrie Coon is apparently playing Helen Mirren.

I'm assuming the first trailer is being released with Murder On The Orient Express.

Another fine Kaminski's lighting work.

You know... for Spielberg... I really wish that looked better. EDIT: On second viewing, I'm seeing it's strengths a bit more. I just felt like the trailer moved too quick and was highlighting so many "Oscar-shouty" scenes that it had me missing the more subdued and meticulous nature of Bridge of Spies. Also, while this is a very important story, it does feel just a bit too much like Spotlight but with a less intimate and vulnerable topic. Streep looks like she's going for a quieter, more fragile presence (something we haven't seen in a while) and Hanks looks good, although his accent seems a bit hammy and it doesn't feel like a nomination-worthy role (considering the roles he's been snubbed for in the past decade). The aspect ratio is one we haven't seen from Spielberg in some time and was a bit jarring at first. I think Kaminski's lighting is gorgeous, although the composition seems a little stagey. I really want to love this trailer, but it looks like it's going to be one of those "just wait until you see the actual movie" to get a real judgment.

I hope Bradley Whitford has a good enough role to get a nomination. He was pretty good in Get Out.

Yes, I could see why some are comparing it to Spotlight, but just going by the trailer, it looks incredibly timely and relevant. I know that a late release hasn't won Best Picture in sometime, but I think it can ride its narrative to a win.
