We all agree that 2018 was the worst of the decade, right?

Eh. Every year is kinda the same to me... Some really good stuff surrounded by a lot of crap.

Last year sucked pretty hard too, although I guess at least there was Phantom Thread. Haven't seen enough from this/last year to make a judgment.

In film, there’s definitely an arguement to be made. If not outright bad, it was a total snoozefest, especially with a lot of the blockbusters (Fallout is still insanely overrated).

Quite a few of my most anticpated films ended up being disappointments (Suspiria, Hold the Dark, Mute, Annihilation), so in a way this year has been a little frustrating, but most of the stuff in my current top 10 are films that I didn't expect to be there going into last year, so I guess that's cool. As far as the likely BP nominees though, yeah it's pretty godawful.

2011 is bad in your eyes? how?

just on the surface you got Tree of Life, Margaret, Mysteries of Lisbon, Meek's Cutoff, Certified Copy, Uncle Boonmee, Dangerous Method, In the Family, Tuesday, After Christmas, Brighter Summer Day, etc

I've loved nearly everything I've seen from last year, so I disagree.

For Hollywood it seems a little dismal (though Into the Spiderverse is an all-timer), but it was nothing short of fantastic for Hindi cinema (basically the opposite of 2017). Worst for me would be 2010.

Nah. 2012 or 2011 are probably worse.

Mysteries of Lisbon is all-time level great imo, would recommend

2010 and 2012 were far worse. I'm actually pretty pleased with 2018 so far and I still have a ton of films to see. It's true there have only been a couple that truly "wowed" me but the majority of my viewings are sitting comfortably at 7.5 or 8 in my ratings and my average letterboxd score is the second highest of the decade at 3.4. That will go down when I watch Vice but I have a lot of heavy hitters left to see.

My lowest score of the decade is actually 2013 at 3.07, which doesn't surprise me because that's my most-viewed year of the decade and although there are at least 10 great films from that year, there's also an ocean of disappointment. In 2012 there are only two movies I can say I loved (The Master, Moonrise Kingdom) and ditto for 2010 (Another Year, True Grit).
