i’m not an expert on how much shit costs, and although they did have to shut down production halfway through the shoot, i just find that hard to believe lol. no way this type of movie (and with how fast ridley shoots) ballooned up to 310 million dollars.
maybe i’m wrong though. and if i am, with the production budget + marketing costs, there’s no way in hell this movie would make its money back. even if it turned out to be just as good as the first.

There is always a rumor - that became a very big rumor last time on Nappy the Conqueror - that now Scott has taken a hands off approach and turned Napoleon over to his team so that would make sense if that's true........on the other hand Scott doesn't let bad info out like that so he may issue a "that's bullshit" denial........nearly doubling the budget is a very, very un-Ridley thing........the fact that it's Hollywood Reporter is a bit surprising tbh Wait, what? Are you saying there's a rumor that Scott's not really directing his movie? He's at the hotel chilling while filming is going on?

What's shocking about this (if this rumour is indeed true) is that it's on Ridley's watch. The man is notoriously tight with the purse-strings.

Exactly. With a 310 million budget the film needs to gross like a billion to be profitable. This is laughable.

It's a quite common rumor about Nappy, yes..........I don't know what that "hotel chillin" stuff is supposed to mean - no one said THAT ............... the rumor is he trusts his team in a way he didn't when he was younger and leaned on them the last time........this always comes up with directors.....Coppola directs from his trailer .....Altman needed PTA's help.....the EXACT same rumor goes around about Schrader.......with Scott it seems more bullshit because he's so lovably feisty and was directing big set pieces 2 times in a row........God Bless Him...... I'm just saying IF this true - it could be a way he lost control of costs since this is so unlike him Story could also be false Story could also be meaningless - I don't care how much a movie costs..............a good movie is a good movie.......it's not my dime.........

I will personally go see this film in cinemas as many times as it takes until it turns a profit

This is weird, especially since Scott prides himself as finishing always on budget and on time.

Idk what the concern is about Ridley breaking his habit and finally splurging big time on a project. It had to be something really special for Ridley to go all out like this. This man is about to deliver his magnum fucking opus

If they reboot Jurassic Park, Ridley Scott would be an excellent Hammond, far closer to the book's version.

True .....on the other hand Ridley Scott has a pretty deep contempt for audiences in his old age - and even I'd argue fr the subject matter of his own films........for a while lately anyway.......what is interesting about Gladiator 2 is if he reconnects to his commercial side.........HoG made 166 million in COVID times but I'm not sure if that was much on how he made it rather than who he cast n the lead.........Gladiator 2 is gonna make a lot you would think........but there's other costs not even factored into that current cost estimate (if accurate and not BS).......

Doctored. You can see where Denzel in Tragedy of Macbeth - in black and white - is superimposed in color.

Looks awesome. Ridley brought in the goods this time. I especially love the Game of Thrones crossover at the end.
