Ok, I've read a few articles about the possible choices of the jury. Many reporters at the Lido seem to agree that the one to beat is Roma, followed by The Favourite and, surprisingly, The Sisters Brothers. The heavy favorite for Best Actor is Dafoe, with Reilly right behind him. Best Actress is much more unpredictable: critics and reporters agree that the Volpi Cup should go to the Lanthimos trio but since it won't be possible they think it might go to Olivia Colman, or, in case The Favourite wins another prize, to Aisling Franciosi, Natalie Portman or Claire Foy. Best Director is an authentic bloodbath: Nemes, Kent, Guadagnino, Reygadas and Tsukamoto are all given equal chances to snag the prize. The one prize most seem to agree on is the Osella for Best Screenplay, that SHOULD go to Assayas for Non-Fiction.

Word on the street is, so has Colman.
EDIT: Dafoe, Schnabel, Audiard and the Coens are also rumored.

Why are they giving awards for VR

Why are they giving awards for VR I think it's worthy. They just gave a special achievement Oscar for Inarritu's VR installation, and more people are starting to use the medium in fresh and bold ways. It may be that in the next few decades, VR will be much more mainstream.
