Greta (formerly titled The Widow) has been added! Still: Can't wait for this, very into the premise, and an English language role Huppert could ace. But no US distrib yet....

So. I combed through the TIFF and Venice schedules and put together a little list to keep track of when we should be getting reactions to some of their premieres. Obviously this is missing a ton of stuff, but it has the main contenders that are big on our radars so far, plus some other interesting titles from high-profile people. Those that have already played elsewhere (Sundance, Cannes etc.) are out. Telluride kicks off next Friday but haven't announced their lineup yet (are they always this late?), so this list will surely change in the next few days. I'll edit it when their schedule is out, but for now this should be a helpful guide in case any of you are anxious little shits like me and can't wait for the season to officially begin. Let me know if I'm missing anything.

Tomorrow's gonna be insane. I for one cannot wait for Destroyer - could be for Kidman what Three Billboards was for McDormand?

Ohhh... new doc from Herzog! He's interviewed for Peter Bogdanovich's Buster Keaton doc too. Bogdanovich is in Other Side of the Wind, and so goes the six degrees.... Is this the world premiere of The White Crow? Sony Pics picked it up a few weeks ago. Ralph Fiennes directed and costars....

Peter Strickland's new movie, In Fabric, sounds like it was "designed" (heh) just for me. A haunted dress movie with Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Gwendoline Christie, with heavy Lost Highway comparisons? Top five most anticipated right there.

Chris Bumbray of Joblo.com raved about Outlaw King in his review which is good since I usually see eye to eye with him (he gave it a 9/10) . "... its better than most tentpole movies I’ve seen this year and I bet that underserved audiences looking for legit spectacle designed for a grown-up audience will eat this up. It’s superb."

The reviews for The Predator have actually made me a little more excited for it after the underwhelming trailers. Over the top non stop action? I’ll take it for what it is.

A lot of (rare) Altman mentions for The Front Runner - seems they're really trying to get me excited for a Reitman but I remain iffy on it. And I wanna know how many of these people have seen Tanner '88 huh??!

John C. Reilly is getting a lot of positive ink for The Sisters Brothers. Guys, don't sleep on him sneaking in at the end.

Could he go supporting for this or Stan & Ollie - it's kinda easy picturing him as a Supporting Oscar winner in general. Those roles couldn't be more different. And the field is wide open, without official word yet on Beautiful Boy and Chalamet/Carell placement.

And the field is wide open, without official word yet on Beautiful Boy and Chalamet/Carell placement. Going by the book and reviews, he's pretty firmly co-lead, and I doubt they'd feel the need to dock him in supporting considering Phoenix won't want to campaign for himself (plus Reilly is getting MVP notices for the film). He could get in for Stan & Ollie if that film does well, but I think that regardless, he's a definite threat. Also, we'll be hearing word on Chalamet and Carell's film later on today. That should help us get a clearer picture of things.

Hmm..... ok that scene has a mounting almost satanic disquiet to it that I like but Moss is maybe my least favorite actress so overall still not looking forward it. These female pop star/rocker movies are coming at us in droves lol.
