I know! Look at how many "WURRGGAGAGAGAGGAAAAAA STOKED!" posts I had until episode 3 aired... Now, not so much. Still, I guess too take stock for a minute and be nice...whatever the finale brings us, we have to give credit to the show. If I ever feel compelled to make a list of Top TV Episodes or Top TV Moments, it'll be all over it. Yeah, I've criticized the show relentlessly since late Season 5, but the first season is still maybe the most impressive adaptation of a book I've ever seen, considering the scope of what was being taken on. And while I do have some issues with Seasons 2-4, they're still really good for the most part - especially 3, which, in its best episodes, even surpasses the greatness of the first season. All that does make the show's apocalyptic downfall all the more disappointing, though. Still calling that the finale is going to be the worst received episode of the series. I bet there'll be riots.

Emilia Clarke is obvious, but what Sophie Turner? She's..... not bad, yet the only one not naked.

1. Not even going to be HBO's best finale of the week, right? 2. Off the top of my head my favourite episodes are You Win Or You Die, And Now His Watch Is Ended, and Kissed By Fire 3. What are the chances that it turns out Daenerys genocide last week was never intended as a turn to the dark side, and she's still everyones mhysa this week? 4. Nobody is allowed to come on here and post "And now our watch is ended" after it finishes. "And now our watching of anything after season 4 has ended" will be acceptable.

wait what's happening? I haven't been following this thread because I'm not watching S8 yet because I'm still fighting through my rewatch (just finished S5 and yeah it's still a fuckin mess) Are we just nominating our favorite episodes? "Rains of Castemere" obviously. I must have seen it four times by now and it never ceases to amaze me. Somehow knowing what's coming makes the episode even more powerful, because there's so much terrific foreshadowing in that episode and in Robb's entire S3 storyline and I always get such a moschistic thrill seeing the episode working so gracefully to that inevitable conclusion. Such a devastating and shocking episode, brilliantly written, acted, and paced. Without a doubt my favorite. This show never reached the heights of S3-S4. Even in S6 which I'm getting through now, it just feels weirdly different and so far removed from the earliest seasons. I guess that's a combination of D&D's departure from the books and the spreading thin of soooooo many of the storylines. It grew too big and lost too much focus. We really need to run a poll of favorite episodes at some point once this whole thing is over. We need some retrospective discussion. Maybe a bracket game of all the episodes. I feel like I haven't talked about GoT since the IMDb days

A once beautiful board that became a cesspool over time.........in other words, a brilliant metaphor for the show itself.

Personally, I thought it was a great first 30 minutes... but it loses a lot of luster after the scene with all the lords and ladies. So I'm quite content with this. I nearly had a fucking aneurysm when Samwell started his "every vote matters" speech... and I couldn't help but think "Arya the Explorer" and her teaming with a monkey as she heads west (seriously, what the fuck is up with that?).

Everything up until the time jump after that death was great. Then it was a complete mess.

Lmao Arya becomes fucking Magellan out of fucking nowhere. Sam literally invents the idea of a direct democracy off the top of his head and then gets laughed off the stage. Bronn is put in charge of something that he has literally no qualification for whatsoever. Brienne gives a cathartic ending to ... the book version of Jaime. The most boring major character in the show is named King, because monarchies are cool. And this whole time, the entire series was set in an alternate universe where George R.R. Martin actually finishes writing "A Song of Ice and Fire."
You can't make this shit up! Oh, wait...
