1917 wins Best Visual Effects This is probably the most open race of the season, to be honest.

What the f-ck is going on in Adapted Screenplay? Everyone keeps getting my hopes up by predicting Greta (first for a Director nom, now here for a Screenplay win) only to be dashed by the worst possible alternative. I would've been perfectly fine with Zaillian winning because the script for The Irishman is really excellent. But THIS???!!!!! Aside from Parasite winning Foreign and maybe taking Original Screenplay, there's now literally nothing I'm excited for on Oscar night. This season has been an absolute disaster for me.

It really is like he's deciding the winners at every one of these things now... Doesn't seem to have much influence on the acting winners however.

WTF is going on with Jojo wining adapted screenplay??? What do you mean? Little Women did win the Critics Choice and Scripter, but I think industry voters are responding to Jojo better than Little Women. It did win at TIFF and it blends together satirical comedy and dark tones.

Lmao. First year of the award and they blow it. I'd rather see them just not give it out.

I mean it was not considered a big Oscar contender until yesterday and suddenly it won Bafta and Sag so now it's probably the front runner.

You act like I'm depressed about Joaquin Phoenix and Laura Dern winning. I'll take what I can get. Shit, even Pitt and Zellweger as winners are perfectly fine on their own.

It hit every single conceivable guild. It's just people kept overlooking it because they slapped the Green Book comparison label on it (ignoring the fact that, you know... that film won BP).
