The obvious snub last year was Regina King.
Can we finally put to rest the idea that J-Lo can still win. She already lost the Globe and was snubbed by BAFTA.
But she will be nominated imo. Her standing is lowered. Dern, Robbie, ScarJo all made SAG and BAFTA - which have Oscar voters.
That leaves Lopez, Kidman, Pugh. Little Women did make the PGA - and there has been a recent critics push for Pugh. Kidman is popular with the Academy. Bombshell will also have other nominees. Whereas J-Lo is solo.

Pugh and Lopez I guess.

When are people going to realize these stupid ass awards primarily nominate white actors because they’re only really watching a limited selection of films from areas that are mostly white, not because of racism. If this is going to change these industry goons are going to want to broaden their filmic horizon - starting with getting rid of “Best Foreign Language” and integrating that into Best Picture (and it’ll be a shocker to some right now just how little these dipshit voters watch or care at all about this absolutely massive array of cinema because it’s subtitled) which will probably never happen at this rate because these people are close-minded and just generally have very bad and limited taste. The fact that Best Foreign Language and Best Picture is separated in the first place is utterly baffling, but the people crying about race inclusion have hardly brought it up (if at all) because they barely watch foreign films either! What a mess. I think the problem is opportunity. Are people avoiding these movies and not bothering to watch them cause they can't relate to the subject matter? I think that happens with movies with POC all the time. Those movies are simply not being watched. So if they are not being watched then of course people are not aware of the actor's performance.

I made the same dance when Todd Phillips rightfully was snubbed by the DGA

I really hope this BAFTAsowhite thing levies into a Zhao Shuzhen nomination. It's a shame she's been so overlooked.

But she will be nominated imo. She won't. She could be this year's Jennifer Aniston - who got nods from Critics Choice, GG, SAG, shut out with BAFTA and Oscar. Same with Timothee Chalamet last year.
And they were all the only nominees from their films.

Could be but JLO got way more critic nods/wins compared to Aniston.

She could also be the Naomi Watts from 2012 who was in the exact same situation and still managed to receive an Oscar nod. Jlo is totally in because : 1/she gave a brilliant, scene stealing performance. 2/even if you couldn't care less about her performance, it's a pretty weak year for the female supporting category anyway.I mean they keep nominating Robbie for her insignificant performance in OUATIH, for God's sake!!!! That is the level😑😑😑😑😑

If you have a ballot in your hand and you love a movie and can't think of any other actors for that category, then you just write it down.

But I'm predicting her. that's a shame. I was predicting her but I feel like she would've needed to make it here and she didn't (and in hindsight I'm realizing how silly it was to think that an unknown Asian actress might get in over BAFTA-darling Robbie). I think she still has a chance but that 5th slot has suddenly become really crowded and The Farewell hasn't been performing well enough to push her in front of Robbie, Johansson and Pugh. I thought that Zhao was a safe bet while Robbie and Johansson were the outsiders but it's clearly the other way around. At this point I wouldn't be shocked to see The Farewell get snubbed entirely. Even screenplay isn't a sure thing anymore with Booksmart picking up some much needed momentum with nods here and at WGA.

Has it ever happened where one actor gets nominated twice in the same category though? I feel like it has maybe, but it has to be insanely rare. Plus, this is the BAFTAs and they love them some Robbie. Watch them nominate her next year for Birds of Prey.
