Except from Lupita and Erivo, was there any other black actor/auter who was snubbed at the baftas and I can't remember?

Asians and Latinos have an even tougher time getting recognised in acting, and there were plenty to choose from this year. Parasite had strong options for both male and female supporting categories (and they liked the film well enough). Awkwafina for The Farewell, who just won the comedy actress Golden Globe. Jennifer Lopez seems pretty likely to get the Oscar nod, and also missed out. The optics ain't great.

Lupita was nominated for 12 Years a Slave. People seem to forget that Bong Joon Ho was nominated for director.

Viola Davis won Bafta for American film company 4 years ago That's why I used the word "tendency" and not "habit". I've never implied that they were doing it all the time😑

11 (ELEVEN) nominations for Joker....you just love to see it. If you’re blind, yes.

Can we finally put to rest the idea that J-Lo can still win. She already lost the Globe and was snubbed by BAFTA.

BAFTA being BAFTA. They can go fuck themselves. Stop pretending that you're offended and I have no idea what Bafta being Bafta means. Yes, you have no idea, so you'd better shut up.

I'm really rooting for Awkwafina to win the Rising Star award.

I'm happy that Phoenix is finally getting his overdue awards-love, but is the cost really people pretending Todd Phillips is a worthy BD pick? I liked Joker, but the overblown love is truly puzzling me. Actuallly, it's not: it's a "serious" movie that made money. On a side-note, Joker is #3 at best. It's top 5, but not top 2. That is OUATIH, that gained new momentum in the past few days, and 1917. I think they'll divide BP/British Pic and award both just like the Globes did with C/M and Drama.

I think Joker is Phoenix's 3rd best performance, so I don't mind it at all. All signs indicate that it's going to sit well with most people as well.

It's a very good performance and, even if not my favorite, I think it's fitting that he gets his Oscar for such "Joaquin Phoenix" performance whilst establishing himself as a bankable actor.

At this point, the only thing that can really stop Phoenix is Phoenix himself.

Well, first of all how many films with POC were released in UK? Second, for Parasite to not get one acting nod with all that hype is pretty ridiculous.

When are people going to realize these stupid ass awards primarily nominate white actors because they’re only really watching a limited selection of films from areas that are mostly white, not because they’re watching all sorts of films and not recognizing them out of racism. If this is going to change these industry goons are going to want to broaden their filmic horizon - starting with getting rid of “Best Foreign Language” and integrating that into Best Picture (and it’ll be a shocker to some right now just how little these dipshit voters watch or care at all about this absolutely massive array of cinema because it’s subtitled) which will probably never happen at this rate because these people are close-minded and just generally have very bad and limited taste. The fact that Best Foreign Language and Best Picture is separated in the first place is utterly baffling, but the people crying about race inclusion have hardly brought it up (if at all) because they barely watch foreign films either! What a mess.
