This looks like a fresh take on a classic.

The one with Gwyneth Paltrow ( ) will always be the definitive one in my mind, but I will definitely check this out. Are you a fan of the one with Paltrow? I also loved the BBC miniseries with Romola Garai (who needs a better career!).

That trailer shows absolutely nothing, but it's Jane Austen so I'm watching it. Emma was my first Austen novel and it holds a special place in my heart. The only adaptation of this story I've seen so far is Clueless which I always held was the one movie that captured Austen's style best... until Whit Stillman made Love & Friendship.

I really couldn't see a contemporary female A-lister of appropriate age pulling off something similar. (Hmm, well, maybe Alicia Vikander although she'd be pushing it age-wise).

I love the Paltrow version,I've seen it a few times and she was she was perfect in it.The BBC version was pretty good too. This looks like a much quirkier version than those two.

Never saw the ’96 version. Got to see that before this one is released. Great to see Mia Goth getting some roles here & there. Her presence itself is worth watching.

Nope, a little bit too austere for my taste.😁 Beckinsale, Samantha Morton and Mark Strong were really good, though. The one with Miss GOOP is my favorite adaptation by far.

I wish Emma Watson played the title role, mostly because the similiarity of their name come on Ray....is that really the REASON? Huh???

I wish Emma Watson played the title role, mostly because the similiarity of their name In Austen's unfinished novel The Watsons, the main character is named Emma Watson.

I always liked the 1996 film with Paltrow fine enough, but it always felt a bit too light and I thought a much better adaption would be possible. Bill Nighy as Mr. Woodhouse surely is an inspired choice. Can't say much about the rest of the cast as I've hardly seen anything from them, same goes for the director.

I just watched the 1996 Paltrow version yesterday and I can't quite imagine any other adaptation topping it. This new one looks okay but I just feel it in my bones that they're not gonna recapture the magic of that film. And boy, I can't help but think that these costume-type flicks suffer the most from being shot digitally in such a TV-like way. It's like the soul gets sucked out of them.

This is the only Jane Austen book I've read, as we covered it in school. I'll most likely catch this at some point, but it'll be hard for them to top the very fine 90s film.
