Christian Bale is the most overrated actor ever Nolan's detractors are pathetic The Prestige is trash Having mainstream favorites does not make your taste bad All this seems to contradict itself, also I lovelovelove your avatar

I remember Scarlett just walking around, wearying nice clothes and making out with these two handsome men. She should not be getting paid for that Hall did so much with so little in comparision

Satire/social commentary is so often a lazy justification for a film's quality/content.

Gore isn't really that big a deal in movies, and Tarantino's films aren't as "OTT violent" as people make it sound like. Also, violence being an attractive money making factor of films nowadays has really got me to judge people's definition of "good cinema" nowadays.

American Psycho comes to mind. wbu I actually really like American Psycho, though I think that the strength of its satire is not for any grand statement on society so much as the Freudian nightmare of a main character. But for me, the first thing that came to mind was Team America: World Police.

American Psycho is okay in my opinion; people just seem to lie about why they like it. It is really for teenagers (which is not an inherent criticism) and the satire isn't strong but still works to some degree.

I definitely don't think the source material for American Psycho is aimed at teenagers, and although I do agree the film is a bit too focused on the silly/edgy aspects of the story, I think it's a pretty damn great adaptation overall.

Sloppy/bad writing isn't necessarily a flaw if the film has other qualities that elevate or make it interesting in some other way. I don't usually mind films where nothing happens. Ambient cinema is the best genre. I rewatch films very rarely, and never on my own.

Bad people are infinitely more interesting than good people It should be legal to yell "fire" in a crowded theater Internet trolling is underrated Nationalism isn't half bad There's no such thing as "too far" People shouldn't get upset over celebrity deaths Gray hair is the best hair

Adaptation. is a POS film. Superbad has better writing than anything by Aaron Sorkin.

The Muppets (2011) does a better job at being meta than Adaptation. and Alphaville Logan is a much more accurate and deeper character study about grief and depression than Manchester by the Sea

I've been having the toughest time getting into Preacher. The pilot was great, but I've nearly been put to sleep with each next episode. It's like Season 4.2 of Walking Dead slow with occasional bursts of something happening but I don't think that's enough.

Sergio Busquets is a much better player than Lionel Messi Nonsensical comparison, they don't even play in the same position

A few movie related ones - Gone Girl is an insultingly stupid film. Black Swan is straight up garbage. And I barely ever say that about a film so acclaimed (at worst it's usually a "meh" from me). Interstellar is Nolan's best work, partly because I feel that it was by far his most ambitious. Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me is one of the best films of the 90s. Logan is a much more accurate and deeper character study about grief and depression than Manchester by the Sea Ho-ly fuck. I don't ever want to see this said outside of an unpopular opinions thread. Why is Gone Girl an insultingly stupid film? Why is Black Swan straight up garbage? Why is Nolan's Interstellar his best work, so far aside from being his most ambitious?
