Be curious to see what the reviews look like once they start coming in when the embargo is lifted but I've seen several positive responses so far from pundits/early critics. I've seen some of the ratings/reviews on letterboxd so that is a little concerning, but I'll remain cautiously optimistic until reviews roll out.

More critics saying the movie is good. Still not getting any awards contender vibes though. Which is fine by me.

We're gonna start seeing Crying Denzel memes.

David Poland pretty high on The Little Things. Says it reminds him of a William Friedkin movie and that Denzel and Leto give unexpected performances.

Looks like reviews could end up being very split. Erik Anderson hated it.

Looks like reviews could end up being very split. Erik Anderson hated it. I read someone on Awardsworthy claim that he "subtly confirmed" he disliked a contender that people guessed as this movie with a "cryptic gif", but I didn't really get the impression he confirmed what movie he was talking about. Besides which, about 8 or 9 confirmed critics/pundits so far have all given the film praise or high praise so far. One pundit who isn't even 100% confirmed to be talking about this movie maybe disliking it, doesn't indicate reviews will be split. I mean, it could well end up being split, but confirmed critic/pundits response isn't yet indicating that.

So unless he's just trolling, which has never really seemed like Erik's style, then I think he was indeed talking about this film. I don't think it will be fully split, as in like 50/50 or whatever, but right now I'm thinking maybe like 70% on RT. Which is definitely pretty decent.

There aren't many movies out there that literally everyone will like, but most of the confirmed reactions have been strong, so overall, it feels like reviews should be good ( let's hope I'm not jinxing it though ). Another reaction from a media person that's seen the film:

Like I said, 70% feels about right.

Screeners are out all over for this in the US so I wouldn't be surprised if it leaks in a decent version before 1/29......

Positive 3.5 star review (out of 5), that suggests the film is more about personal demons than a police procedural. Review is Spoiler-free, so you don't learn much other than he liked the movie.

It really bothers me that the title font is the same as Twilight's.

Shortly after those posts he rated it 1/5 on Letterboxd.

This looks more likely to finish Rotten - below 59% (that would be his third in a row, because, you know, um, that pesky filmography of his again ) or slightly Fresh perhaps.....maybe low 60s on RT.....I reckon......

Like I said, 70% feels about right. I would be surprised if it’s over 60% on RT. Letterboxd reviews are still mostly terrible, some of which are from critics. At best, I think it’s a pretty divisive film.

Well, Denzel should be in wonderful company with Al Pacino, who has an enviable 15 Rotten Feature Films (not counting Rotten TV projects like Phil Spector) on his flawless filmography this century alone. Denz still has a way to catch up with Al on that score, but fingers crossed he can do it and join such elite company as Al

The difference might be that Pacino has The Godfather, The Godfather Part II, Dog Day Afternoon, The Insider, Heat, etc.......get it? PATERNO Critics Consensus Paterno, elevated by deft direction from Barry Levinson and a strong Al Pacino performance, presents a hard-hitting dramatization of a gut-wrenching real-life story. 70% TOMATOMETERTotal Count: 40

Correct rating btw, below. As for "trying too hard", no, I'm not, I'll be seeing it in a theater, thanks and hope it's good because I'm paying and may DIE for this, it's got a bunch of 1 star reviews on letterboxd - I didn't write them chief......... and trust me, Al Pacino has a dud coming in Spring in like 3 months.......patience grasshopper .......you still got Macbeth, calm down.........and I said it might be positive on RT anyway, wtf........ PHIL SPECTORCritics Consensus Its top-shelf script and terrific cast ensure that it's always watchable, but Phil Spector fails to provide truly compelling drama. 50% TOMATOMETER

I just posted the Pacino RT stuff as a counterpoint to your tedious attempts to "ding" Denzel whenever possible. Your guy's filmography track record this century leaves you little room to talk (yes, we know he made classics in a different century ) and I thought it would be fun to play with that. Fingers crossed those Letterboxd reviews come through for you when critics reviews come out!
