Last shot with Batman crashing the car of the Penguin, and approaching, looks like Superman crashing the Batmobile and approaching Batman, in 'Batman v Superman'. Plus, the shot of Batman punching someone while Selina watches, looks like the shot of Batman punching the thug in the warehouse fight, again, in 'Batman v Superman'.

This isn’t an origin story though.. Or a film where he finds out he has a bastard child Damien Wayne and trains him to be his new Robin. Just as examples. So many other stories to tell in this mythos. The fact that this is the only one of the plots you've mentioned that has been used in a major movie - The Lego Batman Movie! - shows precisely how scared Hollywood is of anything new. I'm not very familiar with the Batman stories (I read The Killing Joke, that's it), but I did enjoy the Telltale Batman video game. It felt different from all of the movie iterations. Batman as a detective, as a businessman, as a terrifying vigilante losing his grip on reality - all of it was present in the game, and it was fresh in a way that Nolan's films, enjoyable as I found them, were not. Seeing Bruce flee from protestors and seeing Batman impale Falcone on rebar and get information out of informants by snapping their arms, all of it was a new and horrifying side of the character for me. For the first time, I actually understood what makes him so frightening to criminals and policemen.

Pattinson looks good, I think the doubters will end up with egg on their face. As with a lot of people love the upside down shot of him walking towards the car, but that's also the kind of thing that might have been nice to save for the movie. Obviously have to wait to see the movie but I think Dano and the action sequences are going to be the determining thing here. I do agree that this does look very much like the "real world" feel of the Nolan movies. Might have been nice to get something a bit more stylized.

After rewatching the trailer, I noticed some moments that look inspired by scenes in TDK trilogy - like the shot where Batman’s fighting in the nightclub next to a railing while there’s flashing lights (Batman trying to get to Maroni in the club in TDK), the shot of him being illuminated by machine gun fire in the tunnel (like when Selina brings Batman to in TDKR), and the interrogation scene at the police station of course… indeed, plus the shot of Riddler on the big screen which says “Serial Killer Livestreams”, which is just like Joker when he’s recording the “Batman must take off his mask and turn himself in” video. Even the last shot was “TENET” like; the inverted car crash 😂

Hopefully things are better by March, but who am I kidding, even if there’s an even worse variant, I’ll probably be seeing this on opening weekend.

Rated PG-13 for strong violent and disturbing content, drug content, strong language, and some suggestive material

That was fine I guess... but I don't see this coming close to the Elfman/Goldenthal/Walker Batman music in terms of memorability... or even Zimmer's for that matter. Seems sort of like a mishmash of all of them instead of trying to be its own thing... I dont know, the repetitive bass line strikes me as somewhat overdone and creatively empty, sounding kind of like a video game music loop. The best part was the lyrical middle section, which sounded almost, dare I say, Lord of the Ringsy?

I do agree that the repetition of the 'bum...bum-bum-bum...bum...bum-bum-bum' is a bit too much but I suppose it'll play well with the movie itself plus I quite enjoy how it builds to this climax and then keeps unabashedly milking and milking it But my favorite part was also the lyrical section - that really hooked me.

When it gets bombastic, it weirdly reminds me not of Elfman's Batman score, but rather Elfman's music for the Raimi Spider-Man films.

this has better be as good as I want it to be Just a week and a half after getting back from England, I'll be travelling down to Melbourne just to see it in IMAX. So it better be.

Yadda yadda yadda. I'll be there opening day, but I'm sick of overpraise. If this movie's better than TDK, it's well beyond anything Matt Reeves has ever done, as those overrated Apes sequels pale in comparison to TDK (and are also inferior to the first Apes reboot movie with James Franco). I remember when there were serious comparisons between Prisoners and Zodiac with directors like Friedkin chiming in. Just stop.
