So are we all in agreement that the BAFTAS will show no more love to John David Washington than they did to his father?

Eighth Grade will apparently not be eligible You're right, it seems it hasn't been released there yet. So I do wonder what gets into Original Screenplay in its place, as I don't think either Green Book or Vice will do well here (clearly) -- but I guess it'd be one of those two.

Wow, they totally screwed Blunt over. On her home turf!

Wow, they totally screwed Blunt over. On her home turf! And King once again misses a critical precursor. They liked Vice and really liked The Favourite (natch), so it remains to be seen if they do their own thing or follow SAG's lead.

When was the last time a globe winner snubbed by both BAFTA and SAG? Has it ever happened?

When was the last time a globe winner snubbed by both BAFTA and SAG? Has it ever happened? Sylvester Stallone Oof...that doesn't bode well for King. Interestingly enough, I wonder if this race will shake-out like that one did. King wins the Globe and Critics' Choice as Stallone did, SAG goes to someone who's been in the race but ultimately misses out with AMPAS (could be either Blunt or Robbie, more likely the former), and then the BAFTA winner goes on to take the Oscar.

Curse that The Constant Gardener win , it's making things a lot more complicated than they need to be. But she didn't win BAFTA for that, so that helps her case there. I do think that King can still win with a Globe/BFCA combo, especially if SAG and BAFTA split to two different actresses. I'm convinced King's SAG snub clinched her the win at the Globes, Elba-style, and if she gets BFCA (as she's favored to), the Academy only needs to nominate her and I think she'll be fine.

Yeah it may be too soon to call her a legend but she's had two phenomenal performances this year alone.

I was right about best supporting actress! While I expected one major surprise nomination for Widows, I'm beyond (pleasantly) surprised it was for Davis in actress (over Blunt!) instead of director, adapted, screenplay, best supporting actress or British film. Blunt is looking very vulnerable right now.
