4.its poised to be the funniest race since 2013. Any movie in the top 3 can win and there isn't a frontrunner on any acting categories whatsoever

3. It's still unpredictable, tonight can surprises us but I still think it's gonna be ASIB. The host situation is gonna be something to keep an eye on but in terms of what excite me is the movies themselves and I still have a lot to see, especially "Oscar movies" but so far, there's about only 3 movies I'd remember from this year and are not even in conversation, it wasn't a good year really, almost everything that has been praised is because supports a cause, I just saw The Rider last night, and while it's fine, pure with great visuals it's also aimless, as if exist in its own little bubble, so to call it BP by the NSFC is just unsane. 2019 sounds waaaaay more exctitng, just found out of the Scorsese-Stone reunion !!

Like a 3. Would probably be higher right now if not for the fact that it looks like we’re gonna have the worst Best Picture line-up since at least 2014, and the fact that most of the year’s best films are due to be drastically overlooked. Might be lower by the time the show rolls around if we have a situation like last year where the same shit wins all season so there’s no real surprises on Oscar night. And it would certainly be lower if Hart returns as host, but if not then that whole situation, especially a “host-less” scenario, should at least be entertaining, even if it’s in a hot mess sort of way.

Like a 3 or 3.5.
On the one hand, several categories are wide open; I can honestly see any one of 5 different films take Best Picture, and the same goes for many other races with more than two viable contenders for the win (like Director and Supporting Actress). So at least it doesn't seem like it'll be a repeat of last year, in which most of the season's sense of mystery quickly dissipated once most of the major awards started going to the exact same people every time.
But as for the films themselves, nothing's sparked an awful lot of passion from me so far. Granted, I'm still missing several of the main contenders (The Favourite, Green Book (ha), If Beale Street Could Talk etc.), but Roma is the only top dog I've seen at this point to make any real top 10 of the year-level impact. Something's amiss in 2018; lots of very good but not quite great films, more so than in most previous years. Hopefully things start looking up once I catch up on more stuff, but I do suspect that DeepArcher is right and this year will see plenty of so-so/good stuff getting all the attention while the genuinely memorable films fly under the radar and go under-nominated.

Based on the way a lot of the lineups seem to be shaping up, I'm at a weak 2.

I'm at a 3 too for the reasons that DeepArcher and Zeb31.
Right now it seems like almost every top 8 category is wide open, so I'm really excited about that happening especially after last year when the same 4 people won everywhere. However, I could also see a nightmare scenario for me where the same people/films just basically sweep all season long. Maybe not Best Actress because I do think that Colman will win BAFTA even if Gaga takes SAG and the Oscar, but Adams and Ali could easily win tonight and win everything else too. For now, I'm extremely excited though that this year seems the most wide open that it's been in a long time.
On the other hand, the films in contention don't really make me all that excited. I still haven't seen some of them, so that might change, but I really did not like Bohemian Rhapsody, Green Book, or Vice. I did enjoy A Star Is Born, but I would be really disappointed if that won Best Picture. I also enjoyed BlacKkKlansman, and would be okay with it winning Best Picture, but I do think that it's a flawed film. The Favourite is my favorite film, no pun intended, so far, but I realize that it's not for everyone and am expecting it to only win screenplay hopefully actress, but I'm preparing myself for a Gaga win.

Three
The films this year really dont do too much for me, even those I haven seen yet (minus The Favourite). The only film I really root for is A Star is Born

guarantee that everyone voting below a 3 is still going to tune in. We hate on the Oscars every year but we all watch them anyways.

Honestly I've only watched the Oscars like 3 times in the past 10 years and it's been when someone I knew had a party. I'm interested in who wins sometimes but the ceremony is such a slog.

Most contenders are uninteresting and the projected winners lame

Honestly, I felt 2018 was one of the weaker yeas in recent memory and I'm not a big fan of the contenders. There's a few but the overall slate isn't great.
Bring on 2019. Scorsese and Tarantino can save us.

4. Races truly look like *races this year. No done deals. Also, potential of lots of history being created, host issues (gonna be fun to see how it shakes out), plus Bale being back in contention Big time inside of the decade 😀😍🤩
