Tony Curran needs to reprise his Vincent Van Gogh from Doctor Who into an Oscar-winning biopic.
Mads Mikkelsen as Edvard Munch. Rhys Ifans as Johannes Vermeer.

Bardem is too big and stocky to play Picasso and Pacino hasn't really got the dandy quality for Dali.

Hey P[acino was going to play Dali right did that stop?. Yes, around '07-'08 Pacino was attached to Dali & I: The Surreal Story with Andrew Niccol writing & directing (and co-starring Cillian Murphy). I believe there was problems with the rights to Dali's estate and so on and the project fell thru. The story was controversial I guess -- it was based on a true story regarding Dali late in his life having his work forged and reaping the benefits. IMDb at one point actually had that film as "filming" and then it vanished. Very much a tease! The producer of the project, Edward Pressman, said as recently as Dec. 2015 that the project was back on with Mary Harron directing (she did American Psycho) and that they were "casting shortly." Don't know what's happened - or if Pacino would still be involved.

One of his great undervalued talents as an actor imo is his ability to play eccentric/flamboyant. What would be problematic for him, playing Dali, would be the language/accent.

Vincent van Gogh - Kristofer Hivju or Sean Harris Yayoi Kusama (young) - Rinko Kukuchi -- would be a fascinating biopic too Salvador Dalí - Adam Driver perhaps? Raphael - Timothee Chalamet

I want to see Christian Bale as Leonardo Da Vinci in a film directed by Steven Spielberg. I think Adrien Brody already gave us the perfect Dali.

Don't know what's happened - or if Pacino would still be involved. Well.....it seems Mary Harron's Dali movie is getting close to production and they cast (or at least want) Ben Kingsley. He'll work I think. Ed Pressman is the producer, he just did HBO's Paterno; Pacino though at one time attached is likely officially not doing this. It was entertaining at least to picture him in the role, how he'd play it, would've been a great challenge......so my dream casting of him and Huppert (as Gala) I guess won't be !

Michelangelo Merisi aka Caravaggio - Pierfrancesco Favino. I could tolerate Javier Bardem in the role too.

As Franz Von Stuck - Daniel Bruhl - there's a great dark story to be made comparing and contrasting Art and the rise of Fascism separately and intertwined with it.
As for Pacino, he likely would have aced Picasso and possibly Dali I bet - although I think Banderas will make a very fine, and possible Emmy winning turn this year for Picasso. I thought Hopkins was fine too though. Painters are weird because you can tell stories of multiple aspects of their lives and multiple stories can work - there's been a lot of quite good Van Gogh portrayals (Tim Roth is definitive imo but not so that others can't give it a go)
Pacino circled many painters the most famous being Modigliani which he was born to play (an Italian!) with a young French lover (could have been Isabelle Huppert!) and Scorsese (!) attached to direct in the 80s - which is one of the great missed opportunities of Al's career.......but you can't play everything right Al?
But still.........that one is right up there with the biggest missed opportunities in his career (American Buffalo, Pope Of Greenwich Village w/ DeNiro, Born On The 4th Of July, etc).

I loved Joan Allen's performance as Georgia O'Keeffe, but that Lifetime film was such a wash... I'd love to see a new take on her life. Maybe Chloë Sevigny?
