Just finished The Lobster for the first time and while I did like it (agree with the consensus that the first half is a lot better than the second), I gotta got with Sacred Deer here.

While I've not seen his pre-Dogtooth work (nor his latest) I think The Lobster trails only Alps among the other 4. To me Killing of a Sacred Deer is wayyyyyyyy down in 4th place. Even more disappointing a movie than the almost equally overpraised Dogtooth.

Sacred Deer, but both are excellent and better than The Favourite (which is also pretty great)

I'll just stick with The Favourite.

I don't like either very much, but Sacred Deer has the slight edge.
Despite my disliking of them though, I honestly can't wait for The Favourite.

I've only seen 3 of his films - Dogtooth, Deer and The Lobster. I kind of love him - his worldview is unique, and slanted and his sense of humor is perverse - pitch black stuff.
I like The Lobster the least but have enjoyed them all and Dogtooth is one of the best films to break down and analyze - especially its political angle - you remember it better than actually watching it.
Hope to see The Favourite in the next few days....

I love all his 09-17 output, The Lobster appeals the most to me, but there's a few aspects that kept me to consider it his best, Dogtooth, as pacinoyes pointed out, is the most interesting to analyze, you can even call it illuminating, but I have to go with The Killing of a Sacred Deer, first time I saw it I almost hated it because it felt so insular next to his other movies, there's really no especific target he's going for, but just as a piece of horror the payoff is tremendous, of course there's more, the first frame tells it all, this is an open heart surgery, is beautifully done and no weak link in the acting department, just couldn't stop thinking about it and loved it so much when I knew what I was getting into the second time around.
