Never saw her in her iconic role, but that trio of movies she made from 88 to 92 are all tremendous, and the first and last of them really hold special places in my heart. Big in particular is just a work of fucking magic. One of the most criminally under appreciated movies. Hope she got to finish that Rodman doc. It had been way too long for someone with her record since she got to do something major. Hope it's a fitting swan song.

Sad news! I always liked her presence, and Big, Awakenings, and A League of Their Own are all great films. RIP!!!

Ahhh, sad! I've never seen Laverne & Shirley, but she really did hit the sweet spot in the late 80's and early 90's, with her directorial work.
It gets overlooked too often, but to make smart, funny, accessible and, in the best sense of the word, populist fare is no easy task, and boy, she delivered!
So, hats off to a very lovely, talented lady!
It's a shame she couldn't get more movies off the ground in recent years. She long worked on a biopic about Effa Manley, who became the first woman to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. And there was a project on The Pottsville Maroons, the story of the 1925 NFL & World Champion and their star player, Tony Latone.
R.I.P.
