BEST ACTRESS: Emily Blunt, Mary Poppins Returns Glenn Close, The Wife Olivia Colman, The Favourite Lady Gaga, A Star Is Born Saoirse Ronan, Mary Queen of Scots
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: Mahershala Ali, Green Book Timothée Chalamet, Beautiful Boy Sam Elliott, A Star Is Born Richard E. Grant, Can You Ever Forgive Me? Nicholas Hoult, The Favourite
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Nina Arianda, Stan & Ollie Amy Adams, Vice Margot Robbie, Mary Queen of Scots Emma Stone, The Favourite Rachel Weisz, The Favourite
I think they'll go gaga for Stan & Ollie in a general Philomena-esque way (it did very well at BIFA with nods, and it feels the sort of general crowdpleaser that does well over there), and I think Ronan and Robbie feel very much like what they'd respond to. The big question is Vice: will they take to it? I have Bale and Adams in for now, but I could easily see one or both missing as well. I also suspect Roma might do something here, and we could see Aparicio get some unexpected traction and knock out one of the actresses above.

I might swap Keira Knightley with Rosamund Pike if they see the movie, while I don't see Close getting in, as they don't love her. I think they'll be into Vice, The Big Short did quite well there.

while I don't see Close getting in, as they don't love her. It's shocking to think that she only has one BAFTA nomination (for Dangerous Liaisons). But I'd be totally surprised if she missed for The Wife - most of the funding for this film came from the UK, and it was partially filmed there.

If she does get in, then I expect Pryce to make it too, maybe over Driver or Elliott.

I hope there's a complete shut-out just like they did with Dallas Buyers' Club in 2013 just to see everyone having meltdowns.

After seeing Mary Poppins Returns, Ben Whishaw and Dame Julie Walters seem like possibilities in the Supporting categories.

If King ultimately misses, I'd sure hope McAdams' suberb work in Disobedience would get recognized in the BSA category. She, Weisz and Nivola were nominated at the BIFA.
