Not exactly a one hit band (they have a great Best Of and Sonnet is a great song specifically) - but their biggest hit far outpaces everything else they did and of course they never made much money (or as much money it gave him a career at least in the era of CD sales) because Jagger/Richards got most of it - for lyrics and feel that were entirely Ashcroft's.

The Wikipedia page for that song (unless it's been changed) is one horrifying fact after another in the tale of artistic screw-jobbery.
