Would be a great thing if they can arrange their schedules I guess - the play is somewhat forgotten now I would say - written specifically for Kathy Bates (who didn't get the film version, but the film version works in an entirely different way too with Pfeiffer in an arguable career best performance imo using her looks against her character smartly). I've never seen the play done with a race neutral role but there's zero reason it shouldn't be done here (nothing in the play text wise makes it a problem) and Shannon continues to show a dedication to the theater that's admirable.........McDonald of course is peerless on stage in ways that go far beyond her Tony Awards. pagesix.com/2018/11/12/michael-shannon-and-audra-mcdonald-in-talks-for-frankie-and-johnny-revival/
