Deserve's got nothin' to do with it.
I mean, she was fine for the most part. Had some pretty great moments (usually when she was singing), and some pretty bad ones in dire need of a retake (most of her scenes before "Shallow" happens), so it balances out to a pretty decent performance. The film hasn't aged well, but of the three performers in it, she's aged the best for me. And she's better than Close of the potential nominees that I've seen, but that's not really saying much.
If she were to win, I'd rank her above Portman and Streep for the decade's Best Actress winners, but below the others (which, might I add, have been pretty spectacular of late).

Heck No! She's my #15 of the year, and I still have most of the contenders left to see.

She definitely deserves a nomination but NO WAY should she win.I'm already dreading the acceptance speech if she does.'You could be in a room with a 100 people and 99 don't believe in you blah blah blah'.

Absolutely! She was great, effortlessly natural, vibrant and ultimately very moving. And despite her being one of the biggest stars in the world, she made me completely forget that while watching the film - I totally bought her character's journey from rags to riches. I've seen complaints (particularly from my fellow countrymen) about her lacking the acting experience to truly pull off a role like this, but I think it's precisely that lack that makes her performance so fresh and natural - it didn't feel at all technical or mechanically thought out, it was just spontaneous and fully natural as a result.

In a weaker year, as much as it pains me to say this as I'm not a big fan of her in general, yes, absolutely. She's better than a lot of nominees in the last few years.
However, this is shaping to be an extremely competitive year (there are 10 lead female performances I love so far and I've yet to see any of the big contenders apart from Gaga and Close if you count her), so no. The movie plays aggressively to her strengths but she does good work and is better than Cooper.

She's my win right now with some strong competition. I reckon by the end of the year she'll definitely stay in my line-up. Completely genuine, honest and likeable performance at every turn, and the singing she absolutely knocks out of the park. I say this as someone who's never been a big fan of hers.

Nope, not this year or any other one. The only acting award she needs to be nominated for this season is a Razzie.

Until reviews actually rolled in, I was side-eyeing this whole project from the beginning. I caught it yesterday and I have to say, all the attention its received is well-deserved. And yes, Lady Gaga deserves Oscar attention for this.

Absolutely. She's my win right now. I liked her more on a re-watch.
