That's pretty interesting about the Heart Of Glass book - I love that film and have posted about it (in the Last Year At Marienbad thread) and didn't know that even existed (wtf!).
I've read that book - it's great - and the Robert Johnson story is often messed up because it either gets into spooky nonsense stuff or bogged down in the facts which are always disputed anyway. But a Blues story is an American story and in those songs you get almost a screenplay outline anyway - Stop Breaking Down, Crossroads (and he didn't write many but everyone is a classic, ominously so).
There's a famous story about the great Sonny Boy Williamson slapping the poisoned booze out of Johnson's and saving his life (once, probably a lie but a terrific lie) and there's always the weird thing that the crossroads myth actually applied to a whole different guy (Tommy Johnson) but weirdly got transferred to Robert and that's fascinating stuff too - all the side stories are a blast in the interwoven lies, myths, and magic.

I actually wrote a screenplay a few years ago for a one-scene short about Johnson at the crossroads, and talking with three different demons throughout the night. I've always felt the myth of Robert Johnson had the cache to be a great cinematic story, but never imagined Lynch would take it on, especially as I've always championed him for another musician's biopic: Orbison.

Well, as TheFilmStage points out, the source article about this is from 2012 so I gotta assume that the funds haven't been raised for this since then

YESS!!!!! Any speculations on what the project will be? His memoir Room to Dream briefly mentions a script involving aliens and a musician named Pinky that the co-author describes as one of his best screenplays and a project Lynch still wants to pursue. Maybe it's that? Most likely it's something completely new. Anyway, sign me up!

Working title is Wisteria, apparently a limited series on Netflix.

Lynch, I love, but Twin Peaks Season 3 was only sporadically brilliant IMO, and felt more like Eraserhead than Twin Peaks S1/2 (which I think far superior to Eraserhead). I'd rather him channel his energies into one last film masterpiece to set next to Blue Velvet and Mulholland Dr. But whatever, if he pulls off a great limited series I'm all for it.

It's going to end up being a shot for shot remake of Andy Warhol's Empire but rather than the Empire State Building, it's a rather stoic portrait of Kyle MacLachlan in front of the Toronto Skyline... for budgetary reasons.

I still haven't gotten over the disappointment of when I thought Bullet Train was going to be a David Lynch movie for like ten seconds. It's going to end up being a shot for shot remake of Andy Warhol's Empire but rather than the Empire State Building, it's a rather stoic portrait of Kyle MacLachlan in front of the Toronto Skyline... for budgetary reasons. I would love it if he had huge build up and then did some avant garde troll move like that.

Is it confirmed? "Most surprisingly, according to two well-informed sources, there will even be a David Lynch feature film which has been completely off the radar and stars Laura Dern — either as a cameo or a supporting role — along with some other Lynch regulars." This is still hearsay that we'd heard already.

Technically true, but before it was hearsay from one source. Now Variety is writing about it, which I doubt would be the case if it was bullshit. Don't rain on my parade, Stephen!!
