To me, these are the two greatest examples of actors digging deep into their own personal tragedy to create powerful, shocking, incredibly moving art. Dunst has cited Rampling as an inspiration for her acting, and I think it shows - How fitting that they played mother and daughter in Melancholia. And, as an aside, I'm not sure if you guys know this, but Dunst campaigned for Rampling in 2015 for 45 Years. She threw a screening party at her home in Los Angeles in her honor and invited the Hollywood heavyweights.

No comparison - Rampling was absolutely sublime while Dunst was fine but didn't live up to LvT's high leading lady standards.
